Hi to anyone that knows the answer. Well, you may have noticed some of Dhab's pics contain monsters and reptile things (skaarj warrior from unreal) and their skin is has a lot of detail and looks very reptilian. Do you apply some sort of texture or fiter to the skin then modify it and shade it etc..? Because it would take forever to draw in every little scale and shade it.

"Because it would take forever to draw in every little scale and shade it. "

Exactly!

I actually just go through and draw each scale. For the Skaarj it was more of a uneven grid that i drew. There are however filters that may have similar results in photoshop, but i dont know what they are called.

anyone?

JasonN have you ever tried the paint brush with a pressure of less than 50% to give little difference between aeras?
It's helpfull when doing the scales or these things!!!

I haven't been using photoshop for very long, so I don't know much about the technical side, but I know how to draw and stuff.

Sorry, but is it possible to adjust the pressure on the paintbrush..? Aren't you talking about the opacity? If you turn down the opacity, it becomes transparent, which might cause problems conserning what you have in the background for guidelines. Maybe there's a way to solve this...?

Personally when I draw those detailed spots, I use resolutions around 3000*3000 and use the airbrush and the burn/dodge tool. That works for me.

Yea, he most likely meant opacity. Turning down the opacity doesn't screw anything up, though. It lets you draw lighter while applying the same amount of pressure as you would normally. (If you have a pressure-sensitive tablet, that is.)

How does the pressure-sensitive tablet work? My tablet does not have that function(not Wacom), is it worth buying a new tablet just because of that?

If you've got the money ,go for it.
Shading and all is SO much easier, when you have pressure-sensitivity.

So.. Where do I get one? =)
I have searched everywhere in Norway for a store that sells it, but haven't found anything yet. Any international shops out there?

If you don't feel like ordering them off the net, the head to http://www.wacom.com and they have a phone number, you can give them your credit/debit card number over the phone. I wouldn't suggest getting anything other then a Wacom though. Later!

First of all, I looked into every single tablet out there before I bought mine, and realized that if it's not Wacom, it's not worth it.=(
Wacom Intuos tablets have 1072 levels of pressure and +/-0.01 precission. You should look into it.
Now I actually Prefer sketching on the computer.=)
