Gorgeous stuff everyone! Cool

Ranath: Loving your recent shift in brush approach. What happened man, did you change your brand of underwear or something? Razz

Plein-air Windows Surface test... feels great not having to cart around a laptop and wacom, but the smooth screen is distinctly odd and the damn thing gets HOT! Sad

Thanks Munin and wol! yeah, just some attention to edges and getting over that "must make lots of details" which ruins everything. Nice study you made, I have the Surface Pro too, great for sketching from life! Only prob is glare outdoors, it's just nice that it gets hot, keeps your hands warm Wink

this is just a simple thing, "Shogun"

Haha, The positive side to the finnish climate, Ranath Very Happy Your* works have been very nice to look at lately, The brushwork really changes the atmosphere alot too, it's interesting to see! The previous style was great too obviously, it's just nice to see one change affect the whole outcome Smile

really like this one with the cabin, nide!

It's so cool that you are still with this thread Suma Smile thats dedication.

That tnt beach is going to haunt me! Im not used to getting that much attention on anything! i think I've gotten 50+ friend requests on FB and SPARTH liked it!.. on top of that, the nature of the 30 min sketch makes little room for much thought. So I feel weird that one of my most praised pieces, is the one with the least preparation and thought.. maybe there is a lesson here.. i cant see it though Smile

plus! its messing with my head (i know its silly)

I need to post a really really shitty image today. to get my head out of the skies!

Here is a bike. just to add an image to this text Smile

Thanks Lakka!

I think the fb group activity is.. hmm.. the work gets kinda repetitive there. Just look at the (lack of) variety with the "Shogun" theme. It's tough to do anything in 30 mins, so people rush with silhouettes and fog, and pretty much the same ideas/presentation all over. Of course people with enough skill do amazing things, but it can be a little bit show off, don't you think?
When it comes to learning, time limit like that will force one to be effective of course, but at least I tend to just pick easy subjects and presentation. And that's not gonna teach as much about efficency.. anyway, activity in speedpainting threads have gone up as a consequence, so that's good. Smile

The fb thread got me speedpainting again Smile good to see the variety that's here though, don't think that could happen in a format that's built around "likes" in the same way that FB is. less experimentation and more eye-candy and bling, does that make sense?

great work as always you guys

It is true what you are saying ranath, still it's quite nice to see how it divides people (repetitiveness included), having singular themes and brain farts, and the obvious paintninjas like Mon here....

More of a human experiment than a learning experience... but it does light up my day once in awhile when someone makes something fresh Smile For me its more like therapy anyway Laughing

I noticed that it is starting to filter the work quite heavily on the likes though, as it seems to be escalating.

back to painting birch trees all day everyday.. Rolling Eyes

First: very nice dog Ranath! artrage or painter?

Second: I think you are right in part. but I think the main problem with the group is that its not geared to the amount of traffic its getting now.. just in the last 3 days i think its gotten 3000 new members.. thats an insane growth.

The layout of FB is not helping either.

So I am propably going to keep doing them. but mostly only post them in here where, it seems, a lot of the talented people are anyways Wink (i saw the first one there Mon very cool "silhouette + fog" Razz )

Here is a sketchup model with heavy texture!
