I've been working on this for a few weeks off and on... and I really feel i need some feed-back from the art community. Please feel free to critique at your leisure. Of course it's not finished... I am taking a few steps back and looking at it to see where i may improve it. Thanks

Hi and welcome to Sijun!
I'd recommend working on the values of the foreground and the background some more. At the moment, I think the bg is too uniform with the dragon, the foreground could pop out a lot more with more contrast.
Also, the wings of the dragon look a bit flat currently with the lack of shadows/highlights. Some texture on the wings, on the nearest parts to the viewer might also help to provide more depth perception to the painting.
Hope this helps. |

Thank you for the advise. I will continue working on value as you mentioned and I'm not happy with the wings as they are. Would really nice if someone wanted to do a paint-over for the wings.
Thanks again for your input. |

You are welcome.
And btw, I think that the shape of the wings is good but they might benefit from a bit smoother & looser brushwork. I believe that would help them look more dynamic... but that is only my opinion.
Hope you make some progress soon.
p.s. Whenever I seem to hit a wall I go to the speedpainting thread of Sijun for inspiration. So far, that has never failed to help. |

Thanks again Samhell... I feel the wings don't look functional. They need some serious work along with the rest of this painting. |
