Thank guys, very kind. Smile

Amazing how fragile a shape on a helmet is in a scene, either it works, or either it don't.

thanks Tomasis!

Lakka- don't you wish mouse had pressure sensitivity? hehe, really like the landscapish one!

Matthew-awesome sculpt! it really stands out, i notice the horse is in a grazing position, our poor hero is really screwed this time!

Moebius' death has gotten me interested in line, or just the design he'd use in general. I'd also been playing some morrowind so this weirdness came out

samson & nachoyague, awesome.. how much time do you spent for every piece? do you look at references for some objects/light in the paintwork?

thanks Lakka, dig that texture you put on, it really unites the whole image! was the texture a photo of black paint? the specularity goes for a good effect.

Hmmmm...

A horseback rider - check
A semi-grazing horse - check

*Sits back and waits for the monster to strike again* Very Happy Very Happy

With this one I wanted to try a new handwritten comic font that I found today. I think it looks quite promising. You can grab it from here if interested:http://www.dafont.com/suplexmentary-comic-nc.font

The words are from a poem called Do Not Go Gentle into That Good Night, by Dylan Thomas. http://www.poetryfoundation.org/poem/175907

p.s. Matthew, your speedpaints have been missed.

Lemur> Yeah, Lemur. Got to keep going. I'm actually trying to tear my whole process and thinking apart to evaluate the whole situation. Doing quick and experimental pieces is fun and enlightening but i'm starting to think that I need to find a way of thinking and a process to do much more extensive pieces. Kind of like say, I have an impression or an idea I wanted to bring across. I note it down. Or I can do a speed paint. So from there, I'm starting to question myself how do I push toward an end that I want? In some way Im hoping that Im training my brains stamine for doing extensive piece. Don't even know if i making any sense. Haa. Thinking too much. I'm also constantly going back to what Robert Henri say in Art Spirit that a technique should evolve out from what the artist want to portrait. So end of the day it's the strong mental idea of a feeling or impression the artist wanted to bring across that drives the technique. Building a mental pipeline so I can do much more extensive pieces and still play around with speed paint to experiment with things. Its sound basic and Im sure anyone in a proper illustration or art school will have this sort of training. Its also one of those thing that you will come across a lot in books but to really understand and knows it, I think its really something different. So now I feel a strong need to understand my idea and impression I wanted to push forward rather then getting lost in the different technique. Im a slow learner but what the heck. Just keep doing. Haa. And great stuff as usual. Smile

Tomasis> Actually I agree with what you are saying. Experiments dont have to lead to visible results but I think, that is more of taking the artist point of view to look at things. So imagine the whole situation is like doing a science experiment. You do a lot of studies here and there. But end of the day what the experiment aims to say, is very important. So to showcase the point that the scientist is trying to make, he need to find a way to present his result. So I guess end of the day is a yin and yang thing. Nothing is right or wrong. Thinking from the artist point of view, and I agree with you, some of the stuff seem to be repeating itself with concept art nowadays in Hollywwod film. But from the business point of view, Hundred millions is involve in any production, it take someone with a lot of guts to pull off something that they are not sure of. So for me I can understand where the industry is coming from. There is still a lot of experimental film but Hollywood is not the play ground for experimental film. So unless some director with an alternative and interesting idea strike the interests of any producer. Its very hard to sell an idea without some sorts of results. Its good that you have a strong stand for where your art is coming from. For me Im pretty neutral with everything, thats why I think it makes thing harder for me. Thats also partly why I try to set up some way of working so I can generate so call results. Hopefully. Haa. Anyway, its all experiment. What the heck, just do. Haa. Smile

Sorry for talking so much! And great stuff as usual guys. T^T.
One for today.
