@eWKn - cool sketches right there!
@ELLioT - awesome colors
@Dmitry - that 1st sketch is really cool. I like the cam angle.
@insane lemur - not sure, tho I can tell that sometimes I feel like I'm droping some ideas just because I can't figure out how to get them illustrated. That frustrating feeling when you start doodling and then you figure out you lack either tool knowledge or just miss practice/skill simply. Thats why looking alot at others work and learning from their experience can be really mind opening. Like Craig's masterclass, where he said alot of simple things that seem to be common-sense, but yet, make you wanna give a deeper thought on your current workflow and its technical constraints.

I stopped using any texture/photography in my personal sketches to figure out how I can get to similar effects with brushes in most efficient way. That flipped my brushset over last 3 months upside down but I think it was worth it. And I hope more Mullins quality master classes will be poping out there.

Anyways, I hope I unerstood your post correctly Smile
Pic to post, little scifi scenic.

Beautiful stuff everyone!

A quick idea for a painting (maybe acrylic, maybe digital, not sure yet), and playing with brushes.

cpt.Obvious-just the answer I was looking for! I was actually pretty frustrated yesterday trying to sketch an interior scene, couldn't figure out how to simplify things. I guess it comes down to that in most cases, and I suppose simplification requires knowing what is important in getting an idea to read right. Knowing the form and the shape it will appear as and how that shape is best applied. I've been thinking similar thoughts on textures/brushing, there must be a lot to learn here and i'm interested in hearing more about your discoveries!

Currently I've been trying to break the imagination into its functions, as I've been painting in my head alot lately-I remember Craig mentioning this in regards to the old masters, and mentioning that sometimes he would mull over a one hour sketch idea for a week, then pop it out. here is a crappy little picture of my thoughts on this brain stuff (i call them the three gears of the imagination muhaha)

I have alot more to say on this than whats on the diagram though, like how the second gear can create time lapse sketches to be studied, and that there is a big gradient between these functions. they definitely aren't so separate as I drew them! I think people who are really good at doing art are people who have practiced in a way that they can flip seamlessly between these different modes of thought

A little figure sketch, I can show off my crappy use of mind gears lol-
