I was recently in Scotland and was completely blown away by its beauty. Returning home my head was full of ideas and images I wanted to put down on "canvas". These 2 were done simultaneously and I took it quite slowly to evaluate each step. I constantly referred to paintings by Jaime Jones and Frederic Edwin Church.

Wow first one really has depth, would have been good though to break the water somewhere to break the opened space in the middle.
If it would have been me I would probably put some small cliffs in the left front of the first puddle. Nevertheless, really nice. |

First one's sensational! Especially love the water!
Something about the 2nd one's scale is bugging me though, can't place my finger on it... |

The first one is really nice. I think you should have used a variety of brushes, especially on the left side- everything has the same type of edge. As for breaking up the water, maybe a deer or two? _________________ DeviantART

hey man, really great mood in these! I'm with xbrianx on the thing with breaking things up a bit, mountains are a bit repetitive, so some different shapes like trees or stuff like that could help. And the main focal point in the first one- it's doesn't feel as rewarding as it could be.. Maybe more detail would help? Adding a character for scale and interest would be great I think, also for composition if you place it somewhere neat
The colors and especially the water rendering is wonderful!
The 2nd one is also really nice, but I see why Hideyoshi has a problem with the proportions.. The stream of water makes me think that the castle isnt very far away, which makes it small. I think the area between the water and the castle is intended to be much farther than the 20 or so meter it seems now. Adding characters might help too
Again though, great coloring, mood and values! _________________ homepage:blog |

I enjoy both images completely. I like how mountains turn to sky on the first one. _________________ digitalben.com |

When I see a painting and think "I wanna be there!" it's a good sign Great work! To me the second one looks like the mountain on the right is tiny since it's on the same parallax as the castle, which is just as tall as the mountain. Hope it helps, fantastic work! _________________ -Anthony
