Those studies were really interesting to look at. I guess I'm late to the Velazquez party but oh well, here's my second 2 hour attempt... I can't seem to get it right, but at least it's a lot better than my first try. I'll have to try again later.
edit: alright 2 moar, def. not speed but meh, I'm not about to make a thread just for these. Let me know if it's a problem.

When you guys are painting (in photoshop), do you use mostly your own custom made brushes?

I use both - depends on what I want to paint. You can paint pretty much everything using just hard and soft round, but customs speed things up.
