Think it was some years ago someone posted value settings for the display, was it you eyewoo? u still around?
Would appreciate that pic again, it had numbers on them and what numbers you would be able to see when monitor settings were adjusted right. Thanks in advance

starting to become difficult this.
Trying to calibrate on a laptop with a clone monitor. the clone monitor is a phillips. Thing is when I try to follow the calibration methods on various sites it says change contrast and whatever, I try to change but mostly it is difficult to get the same result as it says in the calibration, as I understand with a lcd monitor when you raise the brightness the values in images becomes darker?
Also when I am trying to set the monitors up like with a dual view instead of a clone view I get this increased size in "Vista", is it possible to set dual view but like with a clone mode? Any of oyu know how to set up the monitors independently but still make it look like clone view?

if anyone else need help I can recommend this site for calibrating a lcd screen.
Fixed the dual view thing, just having the paint interface on the right screen. was hoping to be able to fix clone mode but dual will do the trick for now.

Tzan - u know I calibrated from that lagom site, currently I have setting brightness 100 and contrast 30. On a regular screen I would have thought weird u know like with the old crt screens, however following the guide from that site i hope it's ok. Not sure about dark values though because pictures at work seems darker, but then again I am not sure about the settings at work either. Damn feels like I have to calibrate everything soon.

At 100%brightness on mine I get a headache.

70 bright
50 contrast
47 black level

Every monitor is different so dont go by that.

Go here and type in your monitor model.

Mine is "NEC"
Then check the list for your model

NEC 2190UXp so my monitor is an S-PVA panel type.

If your LCD is a TN style panel, its hard to impossible to calibrate well.

hey appreciate the help, yea I suspect that it's a tn. u know it wasn't on the list but it is a philips widescreen and those others were tn, I adjusted it some more though and think I have come to satisified value both for contrast gamma value. Think I will go for that for the moment.
it was a rather cheap monitor so I guess you get what you ask for, however it is way better than the tft on my laptop but the weird thing is that lcd screens also tend to shift a little if you move your head up and down, though the lcd not as much as the tft laptop.
hmm I wish there was better bulletproof systems for artists...

brightness should be around or dead on 120 cd/m2 if you can, and contrast @ 50% (LCD's this is)

It's pretty ironic posting in forums asking for help nowadays since everything could be googled or whatever.
Kind of double the irony when it ends up wtih you fixin the problem yourself, no offense to anyone in this thread but kind of wanted to explain why I wanted the thread deleted earlier.
oh well 120cdm2, I guess I could google but I think I am staying with the calibration I have now. According to the site above if you do see those white and black fields it would suffice.
The laptop is confusing me everytime I dram though cause the laptop has another color, another value.

laptops cant be calibrated with ease because they use a TN panel

Well people, I have a Geforce ti4200 video card. I have my LCD monitor hooked up to the DVI output. Could I hook up my HDTV to the VGA output at the same time? Does the video card send out a signal through both outputs or just the one that is in use? Can I hook up my LCD monitor and LCD HDTV at the same time? Any helpful idea would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
