I think everything is great BUT the sequence. It looks like the Elite is handing the Brute something.
He should be leaning into and thrusting his sword into the brute and readying himself for the next one.
Like I said everything else is just completely awesome and I am very envious and plan to go up against you one day. Do you have any video tutorials or anything?
EDIT: Oh and Elite fingers are longer than how you have them. _________________ As simple as an apple with insides of a honeycomb |

It looks rad. The textures and colors are gritty and rough, the lighting on the blade looks damned scary, you can feel the glowing heat of its power.
But I guess he's got kind of a point...the whole thing might be more dynamic with slight postural changes, or even some more emphasizing the quick thrust of the blade with blood / entrails / detritus coming out the back of the victim.
I'm not an artist though, I just enjoy art! |

First of all, I think you did a great job rendering the armour and the various details on the two main characters. the subtle reflections of light on the different surface materials are very convincing.
That being said, i can't help but wishing the layout of the image itself was given more thought in the beginning. Waynebebay already pointed that out, the sequence of the whole piece just isn't that exciting. I see that the Brute is getting the pointy end of the sword, but i don't feel the thrust, nor the power of that movement taking place. The whole act just seems rather casual to me.
another thing is the rather random placement of objects in the background. I find the explosion to the left distracting, as it kept pulling my eyes towards it. the Ghost (?) seems to be hovering aimlessly in that empty space by itself, not knowing where to go. The Brute to the far right share the same problem - we only see his head and torso and some of its legs, and that made its story confusing, as we don't know what he's up to. it's also stuck at an awkward place between the first Brute and the border; I'd suggest either extending the canvas a little more or removing him altogether. |

thanks for the compliments guys i'm glad you like it. waynebaby: thanks man but im sorry i don't have any tutorials or anything
yea i see that the composition is pretty random, I had other ideas that i was gona do (such as another elite behind the first, eclipsing the explosion so its not so bright and out there), but once everything else started lookin so finished i sort of just got lazy and wanted to be done. You think it would be worth it to put the other guy there? (i imagined him aiming a gun at the other brute in the background, which would sort of give the two of them a narrative in a way and make the brute less random too).
as for the poses i wanted it to look not so much like the elite was thrusting into the brute but like the brute ran up to melee the elite and the the elite just managed to get his sword on in time - so the brute sort of ran himself into the sword. is see its not clear tho so i dunno ill try playing with the elite a little _________________ -Chase |

I know what you mean by getting lazy on the background; I often had to restrain myself from working in the details before I am happy with the composition. it's just so tempting!
Having another elite eclipsing the explosion could work, or have him shooting at the Brute on the far right and dropping him. As for the thrusting going on in the foreground, I am not sure what would be the best way to show what you wanted, but it does make more sense now. |
