Hey guys,

I posted this at the Adobe support forums but haven't gotten any answer so far so I'm trying here as well, maybe someone here have a solution?

I'm using Wacom Intous 3, and I've never had problems using earlier versions of Photoshop (as well as Painter), but with CS 3 the pressure sensitivity is gone somewhere around 40% of the times I start the application. Restart once or twice solves the problem, but it feels unnecessary and time consuming. I've tried different tablet drivers, I got the new 10.0.1 update but no luck, and yes I'm trying with brushes that has pressure sensitivity on.

Anyone have any ideas of how to solve this?

Thanks!

Hi daryl,

This is a bit of a long shot, but do you have the Photoshop as the active window when you open it?

In PS7 I remember that the sensitivity wouldn't be activated if you switched to another program while Photoshop is initializing.

That was back in the day when I had WinAmp or something open, and if I would change the tune while PS is loading, the pressure would not work.

I'm pretty sure this is a different thing now, but worth a try.

hey Mikko, thanks for replying!
It seems your suggestion did the trick. Can't say for sure yet, but so far I've had no issues since yesterday while avoiding tabbing under PS startups.. And I managed to bring forth the problem once while purposely tabbing, but only once.

Anyhow, I'll keep doing it and hopefully it will stay this way, thanks man!

Ive had a similar problem and my solution for it was that I always had to start a new document in photoshop first when it started and make a stroke on it, then the pressure would work for the rest of the session. If I opened a file instead of starting a new one then the pressure didtn work. Wierd thing.

I made a clean setup the other day and installed windows again and i havent noticed the problem again after that.

I'm still on PS7 and never realized why I sometimes don't have pressure sensitivity. Thanks for the tip Mikko

Thanks Mikko!

I've been having this problem in CS3 also. (Never had it in earlier versions)

I'm always firing up my web browser or winamp on the second monitor while apps load, so I'd put really good odds that this is the problem.
