Hey guys! Been a few years, good to see familiar faces. I rarely get to do much fun illustration anymore, makes me sad. This is a house I did for a local custom builder, painted into a photo of the empty site. Not beautiful, was kind of a quicky, but I *did* squeak it in between work, school, exercise, and a full-time girlfriend.

Well, the lighting manages to look like a 3d rendering somehow, but beyond that there are also some perspective issues. The directions of the planes are hard to read, that central doorway extrusion should probably be at a 45 deegree angle to the rest of the house, but it's hard to tell, it almost seems to be parallel to the surfaces facing front right... I'm not sure if it's really a case of misconstructed perspective or just because of an unfortunate viewing angle. Maybe a different lighting would help, bring out the shapes more with light and shadow. |
