He concludes: "Far from being the established fact of science that it is so typically portrayed to be, evolution is, in reality, an unreasonable and unfounded hypothesis that is riddled with countless scientific fallacies. |
I don't think people understand what evolution is, it's not some big complex house of cards that some evil anti-religious commitee dreamt up to discredit christianity...evolution is simply the fact that things that are not adapted to their environment die, and things that are more in harmony with their surroundings survive to have offspring...This two-headed snake is just what it was called in the article, a mutation, if the two-headed configuration was actually benificial to the snake surviving, then we would see more two-headed snakes slithering around, but it's not! |

also, the two-headed snake isnt a mutation but a siamese twin. there's two little girls (like 13 years old) who share the same body, but have two distinct heads. it's the same. goats with two heads are known as well. |

What utter fallacy.
Have they never heard the old axiom, "Two heads are better than one ?" |

Awetopsy: ugh, don't remind me of that thread, it's too easy to get overly-fanatical about things over the internet like I sometimes do. |

I didn't really wany this to escalate to that, just thought some people might be interested.
don't mind the below..
Obviously evolution is rediculous! I mean how can something like that be physically possible? I mean, thinking that some giant guy made humans and animals (including dinosaurs) on the same day makes so much more sense then saying that if an animal can't live in an environment it'll die. |

the guy who wrote it does believe it, it isn't a hoax. Jack T. Chick writes for radical christian southern baptist types, but although he believes it doesn't make it accurate. Chick is also quite insane, in one of his cartoons he released to convert heathens, he informs us that islam worships a moon god- suprising since the islamics believe they worship the same god as the jews and christians. he also, in another tract, teaches us how dungeons and dragons is really a tool of wiccans and devil worshippers to trick us into human sacrifice and hatred of all humanity. |

I find it funny that Shermer (Sciam's skeptic columnist) is spending increasingly more time trying to disprove creationism and intelligent design than he does most any other pseudo-intelligent activities.
In fact, this month, Sciam devoted an entire article to 15 myths about evolution, and why creationism is bunk. It seems that this sort of political science parading under the banner of "Anti-ignorance" is some personal agenda, seeing as how the readership of such peer-reviewed journals are all atheist sciencey types. Meh. |

Hehe..that chick site is pretty funny.
Islam traced back to a moon worship. Tssk. Just like christianity can not be traced back to pagan religions in the same way.
I saw pictures of a man with two dicks once. |

You aren't honestly defending Jack Chick, Awetopsy . . . are you?!
Have you surrended that much of your rational mind to these goons?
No scientist would call a two-headed snake a mutation, because its /not/ a genetic mutation. Its exactly the same condition as having a conjoined, or siamese twin . . . its an error of cell division that has nothing to do with evolution whatsoever.
JACK CHICK IS A LIAR.
All of the supposed "science" this arrogant cretin cites in his tracts is made up . . . he pulls findings out of context, leans on ideas championed by proven frauds . . . this man is a hateful, blatant swindler.

"The devil is using many different tools today to trick young people into riding the fast lane down the stairway to hell.
One of the most dangerous and widespread of all those tools is his fantasy role playing game, Dungeons and Dragons."
What stairway has a fast lane? And also, BWAAAAHAAAHAAAhaha.
"The rotation of the earth is gradually slowing due to the gravitational drag forces of the sun, moon and other factors. If the earth is billions of years old, as uniformitarian geologists insist, and it has been slowing down uniformly, then its present rotation should be zero!"
I suck at math, but even I could tell you that accelleration is seldom linear.
Neither of those passages were penned by Chick, but they're featured prominently on his site. |

Actually my statement was not in defense of Jack Chick. I have my rational mind completely present and intact, thank you very much.
My statement was intended towards the attitude of this thread mocking and attacking Christianity/creationism, seemingly unprovoked.
My observation is that there seems to be an awful lot of Judgement coming from people, in this thread, who are so quick to tell others not to judge them. |

Oh, okay. You scared me for a second, mate.
I couldn't live in Utah if I was intolerant of religious people . . . though I admit, I'm not sure how much longer I'll last . . . |

I am someone who have been around a lot of annoyingly close minded religious people, and I really don't like when people (especially fanatically religious ones) complain about things like war and little technology seeing how religion are the cause of those.
That and it's fun to mock the mentally incapable, if its okay for everyone to make clear of my physical ineptitude in a painful way I should at least be allowed to demonstrate how stupid they are in a non painful way. Kind of one of those self-fulfilling things.. but I still learn alot and we do have some good discussions in the process.
I'm sorry if this bugs anyone..
but this IS random musings and when I posted that link I origionally meant it for other people to read and see.
I e-mailed Jack Chick a bunch of question about the religion anyways, and he gave me some really good answers.. he really nice and well mannered. |
