My name's Andrew Murray, and I'm an illustrator/concept artist. I've been around on other forums, but this is my first post here. I hope you like the work, and check out my website (www.theincredibleandy.com) if you want to see some more stuff.
These first ones are old, but I still like em:
Slightly newer work, back when I was trying to prove to companies that I could do item illustrations:
This was (or will be) an album cover for a christian power metal band called "Jacobs Dream." They're a bunch of friendly guys along the lines of Therion and Sonata Arctica, and it was a blast getting to draw dark stuff for them. It's even on Wikipedia. Now I really am a star! Anyway, their new album will be called "Dominion of Darkness," and you should check them out!
This is a silly self-portrait I did one day. I wanted a new portrait image to decorate my website with, something that would fit more with the work I've been doing. It's still silly, but oh well:
I really want to paint book covers, and I thought that showing brighter colors and multiple people in a focused kind of composition would help make that happen one of these days. I kept making time to work on this in between projects, and I think I learned a lot as a result.
I am a huge fan of artists like Armand Serrano and how they can make show-stopping nature scenes. I tried to make a jungle with as much of that lushness as I could, and while I'm at it show a guy who's not my typical frail wuss dude.
This last one isn't really finished, but I don't think I'm going to do more with it. I think I'd have to go back and basically redo it to get what I was going for, and in that case I should just take my lessons from it and do something new. I still like parts of it, though:
The rest of my work is all NDA'd, so I guess that's all ya get. Sorry. As always, please PLEASE don't hesitate to point out my shortcomings in my art, cause I like improving. In other news, I'll be at the San Diego Comic Con this year, hunting for Art Directors and people with money. See you there? _________________ www.theincredibleandy.com

neff-I've been thinking about the detail thing, and I'm starting to think that I need to detail some things less and others more, otherwise I do a ton of detailing and it ends up not feeling detailed. Go figure.
see-cool, everyone else seems to like the candle more. I'm glad someone finally agrees with me.
Max-I think everyone just loves forests, cause I think those 2 pieces are what people seem to like most. The sad thing is that the ranger one is one of my oldest pieces. I hope I'm not getting worse...
designboot-Cool, someone likes my 2 people spot illustration. I had a lot of fun with it.
daryl-the first one is my oldest one of the bunch, plus it was one of the quickest to do. Again, I hope I'm not losing my touch, such as it is.
I appreciate the support everyone, thanks! _________________ www.theincredibleandy.com |

11,000 pageviews in the last day?!?!? How the heck did that happen?
Don't get me wrong, I love the attention, I just wanna know who to thank for linking from their high-traffic page to this one. Does anyone know how I can find that out? _________________ www.theincredibleandy.com

Andy, awesome work, I especially like the fluid motion you've got going on in each of your images. The shaman is one of my favorites. Great colors too. All in all, thumbs up all the way around. _________________ Shredded Moose - Web 2.0 taken to the Xtreme with ultra-mango potential! |

Elleb-thanks!
Tzan-I don't know of a software glitch that uses 12 gigs of my bandwidth in one day. Some glitch!
Sumaleth-hahaha, maybe. Maybe I just fooled a LOT of people somehow. I'm not complaining, just stunned. Guess I shouldn't have made a shout out to anyone who likes art. Next time I'll title it something like, "Don't don't DON'T look at this at all!" That way I can stay anonymous and no one will ever know who I am...
Max-Alas, if only some of those people were art directors...
Brew-Neat! I've been concerned about the rigidity of my images, so I've been actively working to get them more animated. It's cool to see that someone thinks I'm pulling it off.
Well, I guess that 16,200 pageviews have voted, and the verdict is that I'm here to stay _________________ www.theincredibleandy.com |

okay Tj, that makes sense. I noticed that I also had hits from stumbleupon, but I didn't know it was related to the powerbombing exposure of this thread. Glad to know, thanks! _________________ www.theincredibleandy.com |

Hi,
Of course I like this kind of art. Especially, when good, talented artist is doing it. On those painting we all can see, that you have good sense of lighting and, of course, shadowing. Yes, your alias name truly holds the truth - you indeed are incredible. That's why I hope you keep going on and keep posting these kind of art.
P.S. I saw that shamanic guy in woods at other forum. It's marvelous. _________________ www.pirkkaharvala.com

Andy, you're an incredibly talented artist. In particular I love the self-portrait; the flesh-tones are so well shaded, great stuff.
I don't really have anything useful to say critique-wise, so I'll finish now by saying thanks for sharing your work! _________________ !!! |
