I saw a small piece of one of these pictures at gamespot and immediately recognized the style... it's almost scary how sharply they stand out from everything else

thanks for the link. it was interesting to see his works. this style is somewhat different .. like as almost only simple round opacity brush used mainly. I like it for some dull effects :) maybe he uses less textures for professional works?!

I've seen these in a magazine. To be fair, I thought that some skilled craftsman is using Craig's AOE3 works as a "reference material". Maybe they were just rushed, but those seem to be done a bit carelessly compared to some of the other recent stuff.. Not worse, but less designed. Maybe it's just me.

Speaking of stalking, a friend who knew I liked art gave me a link to a website he found recently and thought I'd like. It was M@'s. Wink

If I rememeber well, some years ago Spooge talked about how he created his shadow textures (I think it was when showed a picture about a Tiger tank in the middle of a street, while in the foreground a soldier carried a wounded comrade), and if I rememeber well he said he used to put at some stage a picture of a dry tree or something like that...

Does anyone remember anything about this? I cannot find it.

yep, Ben, those are the Fallout 3 concepts Mullins did. They really do look somewhat different than the works I am used to seeing from him. They also look rather generic, or perhaps it is the subject matter itself. Though in my opinion, his talent shines brighter elsewhere doing concepts other than these apocalyptical landscapes.

I imagine he doesn't do as much painting outside of work now.

I suppose it is beyond the differences of work and leisure. I meant that painters don't care how long time takes it to paint something and could continue with this forever no matter it is a freelance or brainless scribble Smile

Hadn't been to Spooge's site in awhile...His Splash Page is truly that...my jaw dropped, and I then spent 5 minutes studying it...
