I just came back from watching an advanced screening of it on IMAX theatre. Myspace hosted the event, all u needed was a profile print out with the movie 300 as a contact. anyway, my god you guys have to watch this. Every frame is just so brilliantly composed and the exaggeration in characters are just superb. I really hope this summers movies will be on par.

Buddy of mine did some of the pre-pro work on it:

from a Wired news interview with Snyder, the director:

"WN: People have described Sam Peckinpah's violence as brutal, beautiful and operatic. So what's new?

Snyder: Listen, Peckinpah's an influence on me for sure. And Kurosawa. But they didn't have digital blood. I can make the blood go anywhere I want."

... I hope he's kidding.

haha no seriously, he isnt. the digital blood i would almost go far as to say that it plays part in the composition? the blood definately choreographs into the actions well. its not noticeable but its a touch that definately adds to the film.

Well, I haven't seen the film of course, but that comment makes him sound like an idiot. I mean, if I made a film and someone asked me to justify the style because similar things have been done before, I'd definitely hope I could come up with something a little more profound than "they didn't have digital blood."

Oh well, have to wait for the release.

Just saw it. Shocked
Just amazing stuff there.

I think the end credits had as much blood as the movie.

Nice looking movie. But style can sadly not replace a good script. For me it was cool for half the movie. Then I got bored with it. The corrupt politician and his lusts towards the queen was more interesting than all that gore put together.

I'm hoping that James Cameron can blend this level of style with a good script like he has done before.

I think that as a movie, this really sucked. Maybe if you have not seen the trailers it might be a better experience. Basically the trailers tell the whole storyline, which is this: They find a bunch of guys that they fight. All interesting characters are also presented in the trailers. There are no surprises. Most of the fighting is As Seen In Troy/Gladiator/LOTR. A few of the fighting scenes were truly spectacular though and is about the only thing I enjoyed with the movie, the rest was neatly summarized in the trailers. I'm disappointed Evil or Very Mad

I haven't seen it yet, but I don't think it can disappoint me. The trailer already showing insane overacting and the whole trying to be megacool. Either way I'm glad this movie exists because the internet in response gives us real gems like this:
