Thanks Mr Fujita Wink
Your lovely girl are always a great inspiration for me. So poetic.

>Sparth : I like the way you talk about your approach of art, like your art in fact. I don't really appreciate scifi or robots subjects, but in your paintings this is so different, I feel something, and that is only what I search in a picture, to feel a soul. Shocked

quick McGinnis study so i can reply to this discussion...

I just want to say that these are all just speed paintings. Any conversation on things that are "unfinished" or "abstract" is just silly. If they can still be there that way, and the painting still has a good comp, interesting shapes, and a good guided directions. Then the story will work nicely. The view should get a nice message from it. It doesn't matter if it's what the artists intended. Speed painting is just a way to get an idea on canvas as fast as possible. If you're idea isn't read, then im not sure it's successful.

Inevitably, through speed painting, you will evolve if you let your self. The artistic talent is just like a muscle. You won't advance if you don't take on bigger weights. In this case, new things. Just like if you don't keep working out, you won't stay buff.

All you've got to do is try. And keep trying. Through time, before you know it, you'll be exactly where you want to be. BUT you won't exactly see it, because by then, you'll be trying to reach a higher level than before.

is it a full moon or something?

Sparth: I hope the strange attacks on your work (that may come from time to time), will never deter you from posting here. Your help and inspiration are some of the reasons I keep pushing myself. Thanks for being around when you can.

jfb: well I think your getting it mate! great colors on that last one.

Hey Ryan, I think you could benefit from blocking in your values in bigger shapes more. Thats basically all I've done here

I just read the discussions of the last few pages again..

What I tried to say earlier is that even if the purpose of the criticism is not to piss off people, being "brutally honest" can also mean being a total jerk that no one will want to work with.

Generalisation and making vague arguments like "your art is worse than mr. X's" is not going to help anyone's development here, and like Octavian said, it can actually make people not want to post their stuff anymore.

In fact this discussion made me thinking about going underground for a while, to work on stuff and not show it anywhere. Would this change my stuff to something "higher" or "deeper"? Probably not. The argument of doing what's popular over the forums is flawed, since I think people like Sparth have gotten a fair share of asspats and there's really no reason to do spaceships to get some.

Ah screw it, this is pointless discussion to begin with.

Fart to post.

>>sparth>> I agree with octavian. Reading through the last page, I started to think that you may stop posting here to prevent such further attacks on your work. I hope that won't be the case, as your work is definitely inspiring. Don't mean to suck-up, but just rather, offering a kudos from here. i admire your minimalistic approach. I have actually been trying to get into that. By placing shapes in paintings, to stand as representations. I seem to admire those who can accomplish such things, as leaving everything told and defined isnt' always the route to follow in here. I suppose most of the people's speedies in here are an 'unfinished' version of this. Speaking for myself, I accomplish something of the sort in some of my speed-paintings, but then quickly wussy out and paint over it and make it definitive. alot of the suggestiveness is lost as i try to 'finish' it. Thats my trouble. but, as you do it, leaving things suggestive, and up to the viewer, is a great approach too, even better in it's own sense.
Anyhow, kudos! keep posting!

mm... working on a self-assigned project/mattepainting. trying to follow the paint2post rule, so... here's what i've got so far

*edit*
fooling around with a 'nighttest' of what i've got so far.

by the way, ALL of you, GREAT work!

"There is no love without being lovesick from time to time." -Durecel

Let me open the box. And just point out that "YOU PEOPLE ARE REALLY TUFF SPERMS". I dont know if this is an argument or not, But we all have something to prove, everyone on hearth dose. And you people are.. Somewhat the elites, so that just makes it even more hostile. Hostile isnt the word for it, its too demeaning for you folks. Why not just paint, and try to paint better than others. Its a race isnt it! One who indures the most pain, wins. or something like that. Im talking some nonsense. Frankly I love to Bitch.

ok, makes for an interesting read, but i'm not going to even try and make sense of it. however what brokencow said definitely seemed the most sensible thing - just get some perspective and keep on at it, rather than angsting...and move the barbecue to a discussion thread.

annis- although small both versions look very nice so far
mikko- rockin, as ever.
