Hi everyoe. I hope someone can help me with this, or maybe direct me to a tutorial I've not yet found. Basically, I have drawn out an image using inks of black, gray and white on textured gray paper. I want to scan this in and add some colors, but I have found I can't treat this as lineart, and then paint under it due to the gray paper. Am I missing something? I'm sure there's got to be a way to retain the textures of the paper and the subtleties of the inks without thresholding them all away. Can anyone offer any suggestions?
Thanks in advance,

Nice Tutorial Eyewoo, but i prefer Multiply for Coloration, because with it, the lineart-color fits better to the other Colors. _________________ *

Thanks SO much for the replies, guys. Here is one of the images in question, so you can see what I'm talking about. I've been thinking about going back and re-inking all the linework to make it darker, but I don't think that is what I need. I think I'm totally missing what I need to be seeing in order to get this the way I need it. I want the background, the paper, so I can keep that texture. This means, as far as I can tell, I'll be digitally painting over what I have, which begs the question of how I can keep from having all the blacks recede.

Any help would be very appreciated.
Thanks,

create a new layer over your scanned image and set it to multiply mode and then paint on that layer. It will add the colors used while maintaining the scanned lines. Also you might create another layer on top of that one which you leave in default mode so that you can use opaque color where appropriate. _________________ HonePie.com
