The Front Door was open so I let myself in again. Hope you don't mind. I did bring some crits.
Composition and Color is pretty well done on the first one, but there are some small things that bother me. First off I think the contrast between the dark in the interior and the light on the outside should be a tad higher to make it more dramatic. Then the blueish doorframe, either make it more blurry and soft edged or make it really correct, right now it looks a tad wobbly drawn rather than intentionally wobbly. Last thing which all in all probably bothers me most is the smallest kind of texture you have going on, that noisy grainy thing. It just looks too uniform to me kind of, like "look I put on a texture effect to make the image better". Maybe you can find a way to tone that down, for some reason it especially bothers me in the light areas btw.
My favorite part of the image is the chair. Fallen chairs are just so expressive.
On we go to Mr. White. Not one of my favorites I have to admit, I like the character, but the eyes and the shirt bug me a lot. The white of the eyes look like they bulge out over the eyelids, put in some shadows there to make them recede. The shirts edges are looking a bit too sharp and therefore give that cut-out feel. Next thing I just noticed are the forehead wrinkles, they just look a tad overdone, stretching out too far to the sides of the head, especially the top one. Last thing, very minor one are the ends of the chair hes sitting on, I think you shouldn't be looking at them from above, but more from below or at least be at eyeheight. Right now they seem out of place perspectively.
Lets hop over to the last one then. Love the colors on that one and the brushwork and texture just fits right on there too. Things you could improve: Her ear is too small, even for a woman. So are her facial features compared to her head size, mostly its the big chin I guess that gives that impression. Apart from that I like it the most out of the three, probably for the appealing colors and warm feeling alone.
Once again I hope it helped and didn't sound too harsh. Good to see you are keeping your output high! |

Thanks for the reply. I updated two of the images above. The first one, I brightened the outside and toned down the texture there. I toyed with toning it down on the ghost too but it just didn't look as gritty and creepy as I wanted.
The third one, I just made the ear bigger. I think the face works well, I don't want to mess with it and lose the balance I think the image has right now. Once you mentioned how small that ear was though, I couldn't ignore it. Very good call on that one.
The second one... Not really worth fiddling with right now. It was an old doodle that I recently found and decided to tinker with. I will probably end up fixing the chair and the eyes at some point, though. |
