Thx Naglfar Very Happy That last one is so simple but effective. I need to learn from that - need better brushstroke economy.
Mr.Blonde - awesome. Values are spot on. I need to learn a lot from you too Very Happy
blog - coolness. welcome to sijun. btw, we're about the same age Very Happy (me 16)

Um, surprisingly fast for me. Thinking about wassup's tutorial when working. A little on the blurry side though...

[edit: saw a lot of things I didn't like. changed a few things.]

Naglfar thanks alot! I don't usually draw women but maybe I should.
Nice pilot and very nice brushwork.

Thanks Chobo!

Mr. Blonde, I totally dig!

I did this some odd hours last night, going to continue tonight if I feel like it.

I'm planning to build up a portfolio so tell me what you think.

mateO; hey man, nice first post! I'd like to see more!

skurai... I can't see your image..?

freebooter

blog: great start man.. keep up the work and read as much as you can about art. ANYTHING. it doesn't matter what it is.. if you are reading something you disagree with or dislike... keep on reading and figure out for yourself why you don't like it. If you keep yourself open to learning and do anything necessary to keep the learning going you will be able to kick some ass as you get older! Don't be afraid to steal techniques from professional artists... no matter how hard you try you won't be able to duplicate their marks, but you will learn a lot in the process....

Me again. Hard to steal speeding-time these days...
Mr. Blonde - that abstract one is cool! The photo-texture ones work well, but I think the textures could use a little more painting for better integration
Naglfar - the mask has great looseness.
lingy-0 - I like bloth!
captaine dub - you rock! the environments feel good,

some tinting to hide the glowyness...

Hi everyone,
This is certainly a great page to join. It has been months since I posted anything up here. It is always going back to Painter for me, since at work I mostly use Photoshop. I try to spend every free moment in Painter 9, and experiment with various brushes, and keep creating custom one's . . . . I just love the look and feel of the painter strokes, especially the blending brushes . . . Adobe needs to create similiar one's. Anyways, some new work I am adding to my website, some loose sketching. Anyone else really into using Painter for looser concepts, feel free to PM . . . or share your work or thoughts in my forum under the Painter section

Pretty damn awesome everyone. Time to type out another list...

bluepixel - awesome! really great atmosphere.
miles - great colours man!
sosen - i like that one a lot Very Happy Really cool lighting.
Mr.Blonde - cool abstract piece.
blog - great! values seem spot on.
mate0 - what Mr.Blonde said Smile
Skurai - cool textures
Freebooter - damn awesome!
Metaborg - that creeps me out somehow.

A lot of refinement needed. One of these days, I really will listen to myself when I say "simplify values!"...

VERY nice all.
bluepixel> i saw that on mattepainting.org and i'm still amazed. the color, and mood is just awesome.

mr. blonde> nice one.

blong > i'm 18. I came around here when I was 16 too, I believe. Or the digital world at least.

I've just been off trying to master After Effects, doing life drawings and oils, and some photoshopping here and there. WIth this one, I plan to finish a bit more and then I'm hoping to animate it in Cinema 4D or AE.. whichever gives better results due to the DOF.

Cool, guys.

mr blonde, great work!

ps, freebooter, it's a bit too letelphoto to be atmospheric, I think. The flattened perspective is taking away from the imapct. solutions, A- create a larger scene around your current picture, B- 'zaggerate the perspective, probably a bit from below to make it grander since he's a king.

Thanks Insane Lemur, blog and choboroy, what a motivation kick!
choboroy - I like your swamp-bride. The values look o.k. to me. Only the highlights in the skin are a bit pale, (imho).
blog - nice entry. Your colors and values are much stronger than your anatomy and perspective, keep putting them out! Oh, and since Mr. Blonde started on good advice, (we all here for that aren't we?) look at as much art as you can. Prefer museums to books and books to websites (such as artunframed.com or art renewal centre) but if time is short websites are a start. Or the 756 pages of this thread, which I found absolutely mindblowing.

Trying to add depth to my paintings
