EDIT: I added some textures to the creature, but kept a couple of parts smooth because it's supposed to be partly mechanical.
I wanted to design a futuristic pistol that's firmly grounded in reality, yet technologically highly advanced compared to what's available today. The Kreuweizer Mark IV Tactical Pistol might not look intimidating, but it is a weapon that could cause astounding damage. The rear magazine loading port holds four regular ammo magazines, each with twelve-round capacity, giving you forty-eight rounds before you need to change out magazines. The explosive ammo magazine loads on the bottom of the pistol grip, and also holds twelve rounds. The explosive ammos are specially designed micro nuclear warheads that can only be detonated after being fired from the gun. While the explosive round is in the chamber, the moment before it is propelled out the barrel, the firing mechanism injects a chemical catalyst which activates the micro nuclear warhead. This precaution guarantees the safety of the person firing the Kreuweizer Mark IV (of course, one must observe the minimum safe firing distance for an explosive projectile). For lighter damage, there is a less devastating explosive ammo type one could use as an alternative, when it's not possible to observing minimum safety distance. The wrist anchor is made out of firm rubber, and acts as a kick eliminator. It also helps support the extra weight from the four magazines loaded in the rear. Sketch is here:

This is a concept piece for a game idea. In the story, a labratory was under government contract to research and develop biomechanical weapons that houses highly advanced combat AI's (Artificial Intelligence), and one of the prototype AI's became sentient, went mad, and became a rogue element. The deranged AI then came upon a top-secret directory in the mainframe, where data from the sleep obeservations of important military/political figures suffering sleep disorders were kept. The rogue AI was fascinated by a reoccuring nightmare that tormented one of the patients--the president, and decided to build itself a biomechanical body matching the creature in the nighmare. This is a character from a sci-fi feature animation screenplay I've been working on, titled Tellurian Sky. For this design, I wanted a combat uniform that's both practical and aesthetically pleasing. I initially wanted a genderless design that would look good on both male and female soldiers, but then I thought about how in some cultures, women aren't really all that gunho about gender equality in terms of wanting to wear the same stuff that men do. I've seen many cases where women prefer to have a more feminine look for their uniforms--for the simple fact that they are in uniform so much they'd rather look pretty while doing their jobs (but never at the expense of impracticality). For the military, genderless design is usually the way to go (for all the obvious and not so obvious reasons), but in some cases, female soldiers have different uniforms from the men (for example, dress uniforms for women have skirts). I sort of used that logic when designing the lieutenant's combat uniform. Although it's feminized a bit (mostly in the lower torso design), it absolutely does not interfere with practicality. The psychological ramifications of men going into combat with female soldiers in form-fitting combat uniforms on the other hand, is a completely different can of worms.
The uniform itself is made of military grade synthetic material that will react to sudden pressure by stiffening up (this technology is already available now in the American military forces), effectively forming a tough but flexible body armour at the event of an impact (could be projectile ammunition, crashing in a vehicle, falling from heights..etc). The green symbol and the orange spots on her chest could change color and shape according to the needs of the soldier. For example, a criticially wounded solder will display a blinking red signalling the need of immediate medical attention, flash a bright orange when needing visible identification, or turn completely black during stealth operations. In fact, the color of the entire uniform could change colors to adapt to the environment. Other color variations and sketches here: http://www.ethereality.info//ethereality_website/paintings_drawings/new/concepts/lieutenant.htm

some nice stuff - how does the pistol load/eject its ammo?
also look up jatimatic GG-95 PDW
it has a unitque anti-recoil system - as i can't see your Anchor working..
your pistol link is b0rked.. |

That creauture rendering is one of the nicest pieces I've seen from you. Good job. Especially like thehead and upper torso. I do wish there was a little more texture, instead of big areas of flat color, but otherwise very nice. _________________ brian.prince|light.comp.paint |

B0b - The ejection port is on the other side of the gun. I wonder if it's possible to have ammunition that doesn't require having its casing ejected (or no concept of casing at all--the whole thing is a projectile)? Do we have anything like that right now?
I don't think I've seen the Jatimatic before--which is unfortivable as I was an avid airsoft player. It doesn't seem as efficient of a design as the Uzi.
Brian - thanks man. I'm glad you like it. I wondered if I should give it more textures too. My ritual has always been--finish a piece, post on internet to get comments, and then do a retouch. I never consider a piece finished until I've gotten some good feedback. |

Nice rendering on the monster. I agree there needs to be more texture on the arms, tentacles and lower body, but other than that, really nice.
With the gun, that design makes it look like a rifle of some sort. It looks good, but as a handgun, I don't believe that design would work very well.
As for caseless ammunition, there are weapons that fire projectiles using magnets, so there are no casings. |

Yep. H&K made it. There's no casing, just a solid brick of inert propellant that's electrically ignited. _________________ brian.prince|light.comp.paint |

the hk g11 fires caseless ammunition, they remind me of little chicklets.
nice work though, i enjoy the thought you put into your peices. One thing i dont understand about the pistol is how it loads cartridges from the back magazines, generally the bolt and hammer would be right above the grip in the slide, preventing loading, and the slide seems it would be unable to recoil with the attachment on the back... looks like itd be fun to shoot though |

the first trial for careless ammo was tested on the F-15, but wasn't taken up..
H+K are the first to produce it for infantry
the firing pin for the jati is angled to help take away the recoil of the shot thats why it looks odd to look at
its all well and good having an ejection port on the other side of the weapon - but it still doesn't explain how the shots are ejected.. most pistols the slide on the top is pushed back by some of the expelled gases ejecting the cart and inserting a new round..
have you thought of making a cut away of the pistol to explain the inner workings?
this site is the best i've found for the G11 http://www.hkpro.com/g11.htm |
