im speachless.
i already stated, bobby, that im your no.1 fan. well, maybe a bigger number down the line but probably stil a one digit fan.

your work is awsome, and the sheer quantity that doesnt surpass the quality is tremendous.

i adore the sketches and DL-ed them to my HD, if u dont mind. it seems like u dont need to look at another face again to be able to invent a charecter.

thank you SO MUCH for posting this thread!!!!

Fantastic! I'd love to do this, but I think I'd be too nervous to hang around the Philly trains- we've got some crazy people 'round here...

Reakshun - I used to be heavily into freelancing - toy design, illustration, concept art. Now I run my own studio with my brother Ben. I'll be teaching digital painting at Sheridan College in January. Besides that I'm more of an independant artist now. I make books and sell prints on line. Next book is coming out end of November

This Sunday was great! Lots of new faces. I tried to get around to talk to everyone but there was just too many of y'all! Either way I had a blast and I hope everyone else did as well.

These are simply great.

Question for you, seeing as I've been tempted to do something like this myself before: Do you ever get weird looks or reactions from people you're drawing? It seems that some people might be weirded out by this.

It's too bad I'm now in Waterloo and not Toronto. Brilliant sketches/work, Bobby. Maybe the creative director here and myself will skip out on the wives and kids one Sunday and join you guys. Fantastic stuff. Really enjoyable.

The Sheridan course ... Photoshop or Painter? Just curious. And why one instead of the other if you don't mind me asking.

DaveyJJ - Hi Davey, the Sheridan digital painting course will be taught in Photoshop because PS is the most common software in the business. Also the school is already equipt with PS but not Painter. If I was to teach in Painter, Sheridan would need to get licenses and software for all their computers.

Hey Everyone! I've started a new blog especially for my subway sketchers. Anyone that loves subway sketching is very welcome to join up and post their own drawings. It'll be interesting to see all the different observational sketches from the various places.

This stuff just blows me away. Fantastic!

I thought about sketching people on the bus the other morning, but just couldn't bring myself to take out the pencil! Mostly down to the fact that I can't draw yet... but also because that's not the sort of thing you do in Dublin!

Would be interested to know if you've had any negative/positive reactions from your subjects, whilst sketching them?

Keep it comin' Smile
Dave.

davenewt - thanks! We do get alot of looks but we subway sketch in packs so we don't usually get any negative response

Ian Jones - thx!

Here's some from last week's session - December 04, 2005

Next meeting is tomorrow Sunday December 11, 2005 3:20pm at Union Station Subway Station. On the subway Platform! I think we might get some people together after and watch "Narnia"! I'm very excited about this movie.

I really enjoyed these..there's a huge sense of character to each one...you can hear in your head how they would sound and what their names are and what their favorite ice cream flavor would be. Good stuff!

Thanks Kochun!

Hi everyone!

Thanks to all those that came out to sketch in the Toronto Subway Sketch Group on Sunday! I had a great time.

Winter is upon us and it's really been fun drawing all the fantastic people all bundled up for the cold.

Just a reminder to all the Toronto Subway Sketchers that the following sessions are
Cancelled - Sunday December 25, 2005 due to Christmas
Cancelled - Sunday January 1, 2006 due to hangovers from New Years Eve

Toronto Subway Sketch Group will continue Sunday January 8, 2006.

I wish everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!
Bobby

Before you ask... Yes, there was a guy in a Santa hat in shorts with no shirt on flexing on the subway in the middle of winter. Absolutely Hilarious!!
