call me nostalgic, call me pathetic. but does anyone out there still have photos of sijun members from about 3 or 4 years ago? i used to go by greenpeach and my gf was funkmitten. we both had posted dorky pics in a thread called "Picture & age."

Man, looking that far back into time, modern-day Sijun feels so post-apocalyptic and grim. People back then actually POSTED, threads didn't die in three days... just, wow.

I like that it's slowed down. Back then every three months there was a big "SIJUN HAS TURNED TO SHIT THERE ARE TOO MANY NOOBS!!!!" thread where everybody freaked out and threw blame around.

Nothing grim about how Sijun is now . . . I think it's a comfortable size. Bigger forums offer better exposure, but they're crowded restaurants . . . Sijun is a little coffee shop where you can relax, kick your feet up, and

well, in general I get the same amount of replies here as I do over at cgtalk (0-2), and cgtalk is considerably larger. Make what you will of that.

It's strange, I was just about to make a "Do you miss the old Sijun" thread. There are definitely threads being posted, but the atmosphere isn't the same. It used to be like this ball of energy, both artistically and entertainment-wise. All these other forums are now alive with energy, but none of them really feel like the old Sijun. We are all partly responsible I think. Hell, I used to post all kinds of useless but fun threads in here, and so did everyone else. Maybe we've all grown up? I know for me, I've changed quite a bit in the last few years, having gotten married, living in an alien country, being concerned about finances, buying houses, worrying about the future..etc.

I dunno. I'm feeling sentimental tonight.

Nah I think it�s not really anyones "fault". Sijun is just way bigger now and we don�t know each other as well as in the old days. It�s a big difference if you feel secure between buddies or if something you say could light the fuse that leads to sudden death.

Maybe there's just too many forums. I remember this used to be the ONE, and there were maybe 2-3 smaller ones. At least that I was aware of, I dunno - maybe there were bazillions back then like there are now.

Personally I think Sijun is as good as it ever was. I mean, you look at places like CGTalk . . . I'm a mod there and it's grown to the point that I can barely stand visiting it for all the commotion and hype. To echo the post I made earlier in the thread, I don't think there's anything wrong with Sijun being a laid-back venue. It's one of the only graphics forums I visit on the weekend.
