*cry* How can people be so... so... human?!
This is why people older then 45 should NOT be allowed to use the internet!
Well, looks like I'm a communist for beleiving in open source, and everytime I've used a computer at school I've been pulled further into the graps of the devil himself!
This guy just goes on and finally gives a very close minded addendium about how Free BSD's mascot (a cute little devil) promotes to younger children satanism... and how 'obsolete' BSD is... Wow, way to state the brutally untrue.

...what are called "daemons" (which is how Pagans write "demon" -- they are notoriously poor spellers: magick, vampyre, etc.) which is a program that hides in the background, doing things without the user's notice. If you are using a new Macintosh running OS X then you probably have these "daemons" on your computer, hardly something a good Christian would want! |
Please for the love of god tell me this is a gigantically elaborate hoax (theres a rumour it is on slashdot but...)!!
P.S. this is what I mean about the world not needing religion to this extent.
P.P.S. ya, and I don't normally laugh at the things people beleive but... BWAHAHHAHAHAHAHA |

I'm inclined to believe it is a joke. However, I've known many Christians that think the devil is hiding under every rock and around every corner.
Let's not let this degrade into a sophmoric debate on religion. |

I have the feeling that that guy made most of that up as he went along.
Daemon, vampyre, magick etc. are (last time I checked) the original spellings of those words.
666 just happens to be my favorite number. Hm. Guess I'm evil or something then.
Ah, well. Never liked Macs much anyway... |

"Consider the name of the company and its logo: an apple with a bite taken out of it. This is clearly a reference to the Fall, when Adam and Eve were tempted with an apple2 by the serpent. It is now Apple Computers offering us temptation, thereby aligning themselves with the forces of darkness3"
..oh dear, i always just assumed that the apple represented education. You know, like a teacher's apple, that sort of thing.
OH GOD I'M GOING TO HELL.
..although, using a mac pretty much IS hell most of the time.
No, i shouldn't be mean to my poor old mac...*pat pat*....*CRASH*.....ugh. |

Well, what I think is most ironic is how he mentions the evility of Macs, BSD, Just about all Unix derived OS's and gave no mention of evilosity to windows...
last time I checked it wasn't opposite day..
but.. if it said it was then it couldn't be, and though if it said it wasn't.. ugh.. *kicks paradox* |

coaster, it seems to me that your posts only aim to stir up heat. and most of them seem directed towards religious people and specifically Christians.
why?

Monkey -
I don't think the jest or jabs are directed at Christians as a whole but rather to the absolute stupidity that some members - or zealots - within the Christian community exhibit. There will always be extremists within the ranks of any group - Islam, Hindu, Christianity - whatever.
The terrible sadness of this is that there are some people out there without any sense of reason, and they will gravitate and fixate on the trappings of ignorant thought without any regard to logical thinking.
I'm going for a softdrink - anybody need a Coke?

Somewhere in the depths of my comp there is a real rant of a religious nut claiming all music is EVUL, EVUL I TELL YA! He has divided the music by genre, and explain excactly why it is EVUL! Funny stuff. I'll post it if I can find it :P |

seems real to me. fundies write and believe this stuff all the time. that's what you get with people who are using something in a purely irrational manner. |

I think there's something very attractive about religion to certain mindsets. For some it is a base from which they can attain their own personal goals. For others it's the sense of being in a community that has power and influence. For some it's merely a refuge which then becomes a vehicle for an already fanatical mindset. Coaster, judging by what you hint at it seems that you'd happily burn down an orchard because you found a rotten apple on a tree.

More like burning down a tree that only made bad apples, then composting it and growing another tree in the spot and then picking the apples and then making pie and then smiling.
The person who made that article was another bad apple from the tree of insane religious fanatics.

As most of you people know, all communists are out to get the USA, its a well known fact that they want to conquer and enslave all of USA.
Communism spelled backwards is: EVIL!!!!!!!
My mother is a commie and she explained these simple facts to me when I was a child!! |

one funny thing about the apple:
actually its an error in the translation of the bible, because the original word used in the bible was "malum", and malum means "evil", but it was mallum they used for translation which means "apple"....
funny, isnt it? |

even more actually, the camel through the needle's eye is also a translation error (greek kamelos=camel, kamilos=hawser[a thick rope]).
oh, and the ever present red sea vs. reed sea. |
