Hello, all. I'm new here.

Right now, I have only edited existing images, so I have yet to create one from scratch. Personally, I think they're pretty good. Don't know whether I'm required to make them from scratch in order to post here though. I use Paint Shop Pro for my images.

Minneapolis in Day After Tomorrow:

When I got the Day After Tomorrow on dvd, I figured it'd be fun to depict the superstorm flash freezing Minneapolis, of which I live 50 miles north.

A different Day After tomorrow pic:

Something I did for a humorous image editing thread on another forum.

Edited computer game screenshots:

A 560 nautical mile, 2 hour flight through a global super-thunderstorm with severe 30 nautical-mile-per-hour surface winds topping 25000 feet and gusting to 80 kts with unlimited turbulence and windshear in 80-degree-below-zero surface tempuratures at full throttle is enough to make any commercial jet exhausted...

I took these screenies of FS2000 and edited them, showing a tornado striking chicago. I made 2 of them. The first one is from the air. My plane's that white stripe in the center of the screen. And the second one is from just outside my PlutoCon.

My PlutoCon flies off into the sunset...

Here, PlutoCon is completing the Ultimate Air Force Mission--nuking a city!

This was something I did on another forum--I posted a screenshot of a couple falling in love Rolling Eyes The edited screenshot shown here is of a nuclear missile that is about to destroy the new love... Twisted Evil

Animated smileys I made (not sure if animation is allowed or not):

I made them 'cause I figured I might get at least some laughs out of 'em.

A little something I did with 2 images put together then edited:

Basically, this depicts the explosion of a "nuclear ice bomb." (Long story...)

Miscellaneous:

A restaurant serving "Ribs of Mass Destruction"! Did it for humorous purposes.

This is a pic I took of minneapolis, and added the tornado for humorous purposes.

What do you think?

Well there is a lot of pictures here at least... though the quality, i feel, is uneven.

the 1. and 2. pictures are kind of neat, the third is disapointing, turning a stardard brush from ps upside down and following the roof lines? thats just... anyway..

the 4. is also sort of cheap, you should work more with your photomanipulations, airbrushing a nasty blue over a buch of people just wont do it for anyone...

the ingame manipulations isnt any eyecandy either, maybe because the graphics are from the time the net was called "the internet" with a weird pause before you pronounced it. also the tornadoes and the lightning (i presume thats the manipulations?) is boring, and not much to look at.

the sims picture is sort of funny although not excactly art... work on that smoke and make it look as real as the rest of the picture.

the animations are okay, im not really into animations but i had t laugh a bit when i saw the 2. and 3. animation

nice what you did with the nuke too, but the one where the asian chef is serving i nuke is just crappy, is it made in MSpaint or something?

the tornado looks unfinished too, work it to another reality level and repost.

good luck!

Thanks Smile

Yes, I admit they don't look very good in the eyes of an expert, but then again, I'm very new to digital image art. I only started this fall. With practice (and patience), I'll get better at it. Wink

Dude, that was excelent!!
I mean if you intended to be humorous with the poor quality of the "art" its amazing, if not I'm sorry to say that the photomanipulations hardly qualifies as anything, I like the anims though. Smile

Yes, it was intended for humor. Very Happy

EDIT: and the lightning in some of the images were not me, they were part of the program I got the screenshot from.

I hope no one is trying to make fun of him. As he said, he just started so cut him some slack (ever heard of newbie-patience? Wink )

Just keep doing your stuff, have people help you, do tutorials and study all the great work that lays around here on the forum. Youll get around....eventually

Yes, it's good to be polite and not disrespectful to new people. But check this guys profile. Interests: Nukes, women, image editing.. No offense, but somehow I'm feeling his posts are not that serious work either Very Happy

Reminds me of SekiRyuu, how I love to read that thread over and over again.

But yeah, the smileys-edits are funny. And the blue nuke has a nice feel to it.
I'd love to see more pixel-art of you, mr. Plutonian.

Thanks for that thread. I was inspired to do this:

SUPERNOVA!

Originally, it started out as a nebula, but when I was adding the star, I increased the brightness to maximum ('cause was kinda hard to see it in the bright orange), and it looked like a supernova, so at the last second, I made it go supernova. Very Happy

I remember as a newbie when I posted a tutorial about making hair here in Sijun and I really thought I had it all nailed down to the closest parameter and thought I knew all about the subject, but I didn't even know anything about it.
I still find myself this way, the more u know the more u know that u can know more, hmm does that sound logic?

Anyway plutonian, I am not sure if u are kidding around with us or if you wanna learn but eventhough there has been some harsch words above these guys above do know a lot about art and are willing to help you out if they can see that u are trying.
It is really difficult in the beginning and it is really difficult to help out newbies too cause there are so much to think of and so much that has to be taught.
But maybe u can try to add your own interpretation to some of these 3d-renders instead of just posting the 3d-renders as they are so we can help out more, maybe u can start to repaint all of the elements in the render and then add a lit up surrounding.

I made a quick overpaint from one of the 3d-renders above to give you some ideas how u could add to a 3d-render and it is not that realistic but hopefully some ideas u can get from it.

ok keep it up and have a nice day. Smile

You mean like a brief definition about what I did in the game before acquiring that screenshot?

EDIT: I have added some brief descriptions to the images on the first post.

no I mean as in painting over the 3d picture.
If you wanna learn to paint the most important is to paint more and from that u will gain more experience and be more comfortable with your brush.
If you wanna do it from 3d pictures as you have done above try to repaint the whole scene and then add some of your edited things afterwards, maybe using reference could help you out too but that depends on what u are looking for.
I know I didn't use that much reference in the beginning and not that much now either but I think in the beginning it is more important to get comfortable with both the brushes and how to mix color, maybe u could just do some random paintings without making them look really good, just so u will learn what u can do and not do with the digital stuff.

Also try to make them all by yourself without adding 3d elements and stuff, u will soon find yourself more powerful than any 3d device.
ok hope u are ok with this post and that I have not offended u, keep it up and keep practising.

have a nice day. Smile
