You obviously have a lot of talent. I checked your site, you seem to have very good rendering skills.

What I don't really like though is the lack of "focal point" in your images. Everything's a bit too sharp and contrasty for the eye to focus. Also, you could have other materials than plastic and metal.

Here's a small overpaint. It sucks, I know, but it took 10 minutes to do. Don't mean to spam your thread.

Keep up mate, hope you're not offended (I'll remove the overpaint if you want)

edit: Whoops, now does THIS make them Mullins fanboy haters even more pissed..

Mikko thank you very much for help and dont worry for overpaint, its really helpfull! I like it this way much more, but its so hard to run away from detailing all the piece, its always look unfinished to me Rolling Eyes I should change my way of painting a bit i guess. Embarassed Ive saved the overpaint for future reference, thanks! Smile

You're most welcome. I don't mean that the way I did the overpaint is the way you should go though.

I used to think "details are everything" in the past when I was doing pixeled low resolution graphics. Making things a bit more simple and letting go some of the details has been hard to me.

It really takes a lot of determination and practice to make anything simple but effective. I'm not there yet, and maybe I've lost too much of the detail while trying to simplify my stuff. But there's a balance there. So maybe you should keep your way of doing things but try to sneak that little bit of ambiguity or unpredictability there. So there would be the nice details you do so well, but some of the shadow areas could be simpler for example. Try to think there's one important spot (the face or the gun for example) where you could put the most detail and maybe the strongest contrast.

EDIT: If you're having a hard time letting go some of the detail, resize your pic to a small rez (some 200 pixels wide) and see if it works. Thumbnailing and stepping back from your monitor can be useful when deciding how much detail you need.

Just my thoughts, don't take them too seriously. You'll do well anyway. Keep up! Smile
