Hi,

I would like to get some feedback on my first try.

I found a nice scene, showing some model figures. I used the picture as sample.

Step 1:

Step 2 ( I don't get realistic folds on the jacket Sad ) :

I find it strange you can copy the helmet or the metal can bottle, and not the folds, those are patches of light and dark colours, same thing.

Don't paint over a 100% white background, this affects your perception of values (anything below 30% value at that rate most likely looks black to you, depending on the setting of contrast of your monitor).

Just in case.. don't pick colours from the reference, if you do, especially after tracing the image, there is really little value left in the exercise.

Hi, please note that when painting German soldiers from WWII, they did not wear green but gray.

Did anyone say they're German? Or can you see that by their outfit?
Anyhow the models have green uniforms.

Actually Zamex you're wrong. Some german infantry started wearing green uniforms in '42 and more widespread in '43.
It was designated the M1942 reed green drill tunic and was worn during summer months.

(d'oh I've just let out i'm an anorak!)

Feral: OK, you are of course right about the color of M1942. I forgot about that one.
Frode: It is clear that they are Germans: the left one is holding MP 40, the right one K.98, Also their uniforms and other equipment is clearly German.

How the hell should I know that? I wasn't there!
BTW, maybe Zamex thought Germans wore grey uniforms because he's only seen b-w movies and photo's. Razz
