Did this today, 6 hours.
Too slow for a speedy,
too many mistakes for me to try to sell it to you.
Please criticise as much as poss.
My criticisms: the perspective is a disaster, the painting is reasonably dull, partly because of dull colour. The water works okay, imo. Design is lacking. The wall-corner in the bottom right hand corner needs more contrast. There's something terribly naff looking about and tight rendition from a bad start.
I can post the steps, if anyone is interested. |

thank you watmough.
not familiar with caillebotte or zorn, but I'll take a look.
Looking at their paintings will probably make for a good critique on mine, especially if there is similarity in subjec matter.
odds: here they are:

Personally, I've always found the 'steps' of an image totally unremarkable. even spooge's or flushy's or whomeever's steps. |

Pretty good!! I especially like the composition.
If I were you I would have stopped at step 6.
Maybe it's just my monitor but I think there's alot more contrast an saturation...
All in all I would say contrast is the key in this case. The Perspective really isn't that important. The "background story" of this pic is what makes it interesting for me. Keep it up. |

max, I think I just thought the yellow cast over the step six looked a bit tacky, and I liked the very lifeless greyness of the other one. I brought it on myself! I think I felt it made for a more of a consistent atmosphere/sky etc, didn't want it to look too bight and sunny-coloured for the overcast sky. Of course I was getting way ahead of myself on that bit of thinking!
thanks! |

That's awesome. I like the impressionistic look. _________________ Blimey, I'm a Limey |
