if only there were some way to search for information on the internet . . .

edit: not trying to be a jerk, sorry. But what exactly are you having a hard time with? Sit down and try some different ideas. People here are going to be hesitant to do your homework for you. Why not make a couple sketches first and ask us to critique them?

what's your problem exactly? you don't know what to draw? this is how i often approach drawing abstractly at my school... think of things that remind you of summer, then draw the things that remind you of those things (if you go to the beach, and you like the ocean, draw the reflection of the bright sun on the waves), and then draw only that. now draw a part of something else. find ways to combine/alter different ideas into a nice overall composition. try to just maintain the initial "effect" (bright, silvery flakes from waves) you're trying to mimic.. the idea is to create seemingly random strokes that are yet affected by things of summer. this kind of drawing has honestly done wonders for just drawing from life. it's so much harder now that i have so much more to think about Sad

sorry, i hope this helps/wasn't off topic.. i think it should help though

Design an Isfahan style Persian rug. That way you would be using painterly objects to create geometric designs for a geometric composition.

You are too busy thinking like a painter, and that is why you are failing to find an idea to this project. Stop trying to create geometric objects to fit a pretty picture. Instead use pretty objects to fit a geometric picture. You must put your design cap on and think like an architect. You are not painting a painting, but constructing a design.

If I were you I'd probably design a whole buch of things and see if any of them remind me of summer. Think of some things that you assiciate with summer. I would use things with rounder edges, as opposed to sharp edges. Can you make a circle that looks kind of like a beach ball? I would do alot of empty space, cuz summer doesn't have alot of clouds, and I think of heat with kind of empty. Try and represent the feelings of things. How can you represent a beach without drawing it? Maybe a wavy sort of line..i don't know. Hope any of that helped Smile

Make it

sssssssuper sssssssimple sssssssizzling

Draw a series of wavy vertical lines to represent heat coming up off a black tar street on the hottest day in July.

ssssssssssssssummer

Try white lines on a black (tar) background.
