I really appreciate all your thoughts and comments there guys, the house above I didn't think that much of actually. Started as a sketch and then I added a wc painting above, with some more detailing and brushing with custom brushes thereafter.
I think I have digested the most of the Camera obscura stuff so I will definitely leave it alone now, thanks for your thoughts and opinions spooge.

Lunatique, wuw many thanks there. Yea that must be the butterflies coming for a visit a spooge said. Not sure how to explain it but I am thinking of it all as part of the experiment for now. Hopefully I can get all parts right later on. thanks again for the comment. Smile

ok not sure what happened in this piece, maybe I need some lunch
have a nice weekend everyone and thanks again.

There was a guy asking for detail in a pm, I usually never save anything but the jpg compressed pieces I work on so close-ups is a bit difficult to show but here's one pic with a detail below. With speedies I usually work in resolution 2000x1500, this one was 2000x2000.
Gonna go for a visit in the skateboard-park again today, hope all me bones will stay un-broken.

Matthew - Shocked
spooge - I would like to have more proeficience in english to follow this discussion about art and artist. I can understand what you said and liked it too much. By the way I have a discussion on the same theme with a "phd in fine arts" and was pretty funny because she put the thing almost the same way as you.
I was visiting my grandma in a hospital this week... Saw a lot of almost dead people...

Freebooter nihongo wakarundesune! Bikkuri shimashita!!
"l pamauta ove a" don't know if it's spelled correctly...
Strange phrase I know. Well I have a friend from finland. Her mother
used to leave messages at doors and stuff. This is what I remember.
I could some more finish but I forgot almost everything.... Sad

Sukhoi: Shows up just fine, awesome pic too! You should be the art director for Ep 3, seriously. There's "vision" in your work.

Matthew: keep up the good work, you're improving fast!

I have a toy like this, excluding the teeth:

Mitsui: I love the tinyness of the people in contrast to the size of the vehicle. Your last ones have been fun to look at.

Freebooter and Matthew: you two are endeavorous little creatures and I admire that.

Pato: I was visiting my granmother in the hospital this time last year. There were a lot of dying people around her as well. It was hard to watch. When she died I think it permenantly changed me. You always want to have "time" to say goodbye, but seeing people suffer and cling to life is really heart wrenching.

SPooge: I dig what you say about the subjectiveness in art. My school is fairly liberal about the arts and its terribly annoying. They spend more time on rhetoric than anythiing else. You know, "how to be original"... like peeing on an electric fence whilst painting to make your work more honest... it drives me up the wall. In fact its enough to just Duchamp out and play chess till I die.

I've come to the conclusion that ideas are a dime a dozen and most everyone has them, but its the way you achieve your ideas that makes them interesting.
yet, I'm still so green I shouldn't have an opinion. ribbit

Some things I think to be true, please correct me if I'm wrong. contrast is composed of edge definition and value difference. Since, as spooge put it, we are not in fact cameras, then I have to lie about what i see in a photograph or from life to make it work in a painting. in other words, I can't recreate life or a photograph in a painting, but I can make a painting look realistic or photorealistic if I use magic fairy dust. right?

Furthermore, this painting sucks. But I would love to have a critique from anyone. What I'm trying to do is paint from photographs and just focus on the big forms and values. I don't seem to be getting it. help

No prob mitsui, your stuff is coming along. that last one is nice as well.

ZhuZhu, I have been enjoying those dolls.

heres another. Cezanne had some really cool paintings. I like how he concentrated on form exclusively. He ruled but I dont know what I'm doing. HA
