It's beautiful, but seems more like an underpainting. There is no real "depth" as much as a glaze over the canvas.
I like the subject, but the execution is too minimalist for me. But, I'm a VanGogh afficionado, so my passion for dimensional oils does cloud my perceptions... Wink

I agree with sweetums, its a very nice start but seems to still be in the underpainting phase. You don't necessarily have to get all thick and chunky with the paint but some layering and subtle hues within the monochromatic scheme would help. If you haven''t already you should definitely check out some of Turner's sea storm paintings. He uses very thin glazes and then some thick opaque paint for the highlights, which really makes it snap.

I agree... the nearer you get to the horizon, the brighter the colors should become, in order to create some realistic depth (with light source... during night it should become darker.)

anyway. I can't say I like it, since I really love depth in paintings. but if you work on that it could turn out pretty awesome.

As i moved further to the coast the insectile creatures started to appear more and more female, the screaches and howls of a night were always followed by whooping and clicking.

If i can make it to the coast by sunset or late afternoon, i might last another week on fish.

The night came on sooner that i would have hoped, i heard breathing in the shadows then turned to see them scatter back to the woods.

These last two paintings that you've posted show a lot of expression. The one of the cloaked figure holding the sword looks impressive with his right arm as a long cloaked curve. I'd love to see more of these. Avoid using strong textured backgrounds like on the last image.

Gotta say, that the narratives you're with some of these images aren't doing it for me. Leaving your art open for interpretation on it's own allows more freedom for users to post their first impressions.
