Another. I've been feeling like everything I do lately is way too greyed out, so on this one just to force myself out of that I oversaturated everyting. My apologies for that. Not really a speedy, but not really a finished piece either, so I thought I'd post it here. No ref used, though I should have, she seems to be lacking something. Oh well... next....

hey everyone. took some time to paint today after being totally inspired by dusso and goodbrush. Man i gotta tell ya spooge youre probably the one whos given me the most inspiration over the last couple of years. i think i need to broaden my horizons a little perhaps Smile.
Great work in here as usual, it is fun to see how much people take after spooge in here. I totally understand it though.

fiend-im diggin that dino bird man.
chapterx- that gasmask guy is great.
rFredrickson- i like the girl.
wathomouth- i love the feeling of that pic. the guys like just swishing his sword ignorantly behind him and- whoops! SPLISH!!!
hehe would be great with another picture where he looks behind him like- ehhh....whoops, i just killed my cat Smile
great stuff everyone!

Did anyone try Wacom's Cintiq interactive pen display? I wonder if it is worth the $, because it is not a cheap product . . . also wonder if it's really like working digitally on paper . . .

another b&w layout . .

been a way for a while. good to be back! EVERYONE's making exciting progress, especially spooge and matthew! Love that landscape with tribesmen matt.

I've just started my one year, pre-uni 'art & design foundation course' as it's called. Seems like no one ever teaches students about how to use different mediums, or how to study nature or whatever.

I guess cause they want everyone to do their own thing. They just say, oils over there, acrylic over there, scrap yard here, canvases here, and stand back and let the fledgling artist play. I guest I have to trust them. Still, I can still come here for my naturalism and mark-making advice! I don't want to be too closed minded about it all though, hopefully the course'll open my mind to stuff I never thought of.

I get into this weird sort of frantic rush when I'm painting in p-shop, and I spend hours on things making brainless mark-after-mark, until I just revert or obliterate what I've done. Not a very economical way of working! I imagine I'll learn to spot and stop myself doing these thing sooner, over time.

Anyways, a few speedpaintings,

was going to do a book cover, but it turned into a monstrous pile of shit:
(book is fictional. y'know what I mean.)

Reading Dune. I prefer Philip K. Dick, but It was pressed upon me by a fellow sci-fi lover, and it is brilliant.

omg so much good works guys and nice to see some action again in the speedy, it has been way to slow lately. Very nice page. Smile

thanks again for all the comments.

Capt.Fred, nice to see you back and nice works.

chapterx, nice stuff.

I am doing a lot of these on a daily basis now, just quick doodles on A4 paper to get used to the watercolor medium, I just love it.
Maybe I will post one digital piece later.

C.fred, great atmosphere on the first one.
Spooge, Im always in love with your colors! and the way you model your head.

Art historians will write books about this thread, someday, no thanks to me.

Not only did I learn how to draw an unappealing grasshopper with substance abuse problems, I also learned something about texture. Thanks, speed-painting!
