Id love to see the water... or the edge of the waterfall itself. As is I have to take your word that its above the waterfall.. if it didnt have that title, I wouldnt get it.

hey warhead, let me start off by saying i like what youve done.
did you do this from a photo by any chance? when working from photographs(i know this from experience) you really tend to get a flat image,or in the case of a landscape,no atmosphere(look at monet's stuff to see what i mean about atmosphere).also photos wreck the color(s) of the outdoors.
its also important to pick out what you want to be the focal point of your painting and try to emphasize that not just with composition, but color and value too.
i did a quick overpaint,i reeeeaaaallly hope you dont mind,i like your painting ,i just wanted to give you my thoughts on it.

also....acrylic has an amazing ability to express texture, dont be afraid to pile it on there!1!

Hey, thanks for the comment, and i don't mind about the overpaint.

Yes i used a refrence from my own taken digital image. Also can you explain this focal point more.

And im not quite sure what you did, and why? To me it looks kind of dull now. ???

well your painting is lacking any real atmosphere..
you know that quality that tells the viewer its outside.
plus, there is way too much black.
the trees in the background should recede more, thats why i lightened them and made them bluer.
i dont know if its just the pic,but the sky has too much red in it to make the light believable.
also, your green is tooo green, you'll find, even looking at conifers, that there is an amazing amount of red in the green.
also, its good to try to think of larger shapes when you are painting to try and develop the focal point.
paint outside,it will help you with this, relying too much on photo ref will hurt the visual credibility of your work.

Thank you, i understand what you mean now.

Also one thing though, i didn't use any black in this painting, there dark areas are, a dark blueish green. It might be hard to tell in the photograph.

Thanks for your help, yeah it is hard to get on site, to paint from life, but i am totally willing too, and i would love it Very Happy

Thanks again.
