After searching that site, I found alot of work by artists I know. Maybe you should post that information at gfxartist to let some of them know.
I posted this message at a couple other sites just so word gets around. |

This guys such an idiot. After some artists requested him take down their work, he replaced their images with slanderous pictures claiming the artist was a snob. Hes also asking people to boycott the artist and not to purchase anything the artist sells. This guys just asking for a lawsuit. |

SUE! SUE! SUE! SUE!
it's the american way!
I can't believe this! isn't this concidered stealing or something? in any case, it IS violation of the artist, since any artwork you make is automaticly copyrighted, and the rights are totally yours. this website is illegal as hell. _________________ Rabies up your bunghole |

For those who are interested ... Don Seegmiller started a thread at Conceptart.org
http://www.conceptart.org/forums/showthread.php?t=27955
I know the whole thing is not funny ...
but maybe people who are not involved can giggle!?
It is pretty funny what young paddy1 found:

If you all could place your pitchforks and torches into the proper receptacles when exiting the mob, it would most appreciated. Please extinguish all torches prior to returning them, to avoid a repeat of last year's incident.

I think it's just a crying shame that folks think they're not doing anything wrong. What a bunch of dumbasses. A simple "Cease and Desist" should do nicely. If that doesn't work . . . then . . . loosen the hounds! _________________ - Tom Carter

I saw this at ConceptArt.org, i think someone or everyone should do something about this.
Everysingle artists work that he has stolen can sue him! Just because he puts, a little border of his own around it doesn't make it his.

Heres a question. Can you sell prints of your art if its a copyrighted character or would that be copyright enfringement? Ive seen that around too. |

That would be copyright infringement unless the picture was a parody of the character... and even then, you might end up having to prove the parody in a court of law. _________________ HonePie.com

He only deletes them if the artists contacts him.
But it should only be a matter of time until the whole site is down. _________________ http://www.conceptworld.org |

This may help: http://www.felgall.com/htmlt46.htm
Felgall says that you can't stop people from viewing the source html and can't disable the "view source" feature, but a lot of rip-off jerks like "Lord Greystoke" don't have the Javascript savvy to get around this no matter how easy Felgall says it is to do. Sure, it's "easy" for him, a pro.
Basically it's a page detailing the advantages and disadvantages of html protective software, i.e., a rip-off artist can't just screen capture with ease. About the best he could do if say, Mike Chen's program for instance was installed is hit the Print Screen function and save it as a bitmap and the res on that is waaay low...unusable for his needs. I know about Chen's particular program and it works well insofar as what it does. Makes it invisible to web spiders, too, but also to search engines, so, if a first page listing in Google is what you're after, this software makes is a bit more difficult but at least it's not so easy to pirate another's website.
BTW, at the bottom of the page listed above, Felgall's HTML Source Protection Program is FREE, so at least these things offer some protection. _________________ it's not about getting what you want, it's about wanting what you get. |
