hey everyone. a new speedpaint. Got a question for all you super pros out there. When doing light and shadow, how do you guys get the values down? I mean How do you decide how bright the lightest tones should be and how dark the shadows should be? Guess ofcourse theres no easy answer... ah crap.
-mitusi. cool hands man.
-henrik. otrloligt snyggt som vanlligt.
-everybody else cool stuff--[/img] _________________ ARRR! |

mullins: thanks, starting to learn a couple things... BTW, im still not 100% sure what you mean when you say lenses. Im guessing it's something to do with camera's and their distortions?
i think i need to focus more on the perspective |

ok no comic then, I probably need to do a thousand more aeroplanes anyway.
burnOut, think of the clouds as layers, laying in front of eachother.
fluo, hehe it's Spooge with his water-hose, I made an overpaint of that picture a hundred pages back.
paint and be confused

Hawaii must be nice ....
@burn0ut: Nice clouds, next time I'll try some, too
@fluo: Like your Samurai. Also gotta try that hand-exercise of yours
This took much too long [2h] but those eyes were
hard to get somehow right. I bet they're still off
Reference, no overpaint.

Everyone is doing awesome. keep it up.
Teyekinik: those aren't blaster shots. I was playing with the idea that everywhere vader goes, his rage is so strong that he saps life out of every living thing around him.
another fucked up one. I couldn't get the values right so I played around till I was bored. but no whining, just post right:

CM, Yeah MGS2 is a kickass game. You should find and look at the concept art as well. It's amazing!
Henrik, WOW I love it. your work is always inspiring
Spooge, that contact concept art you posted recently, is my current wallpaper, I loved the movie, love that piece you did too. I can see how you already had your own style back in 1996.
P-Rik, I like the colors on that one,
Alpetter, you amaze. really nice stuff.
Here's mine
Lot of people complaining that my stuff don't read, especially the eva pic that I did last time. Can't be a good thing. dunno about this one. |

Octavian- Thats a mean Darth Vader.
Burnout - Nice studies .
Fluo- Those hand studies are sweet.
Not what you could call a speed painting. But I dont think I'm ready to post in the finished work section.
Fan art of Mike Mignola's Lobster Johnson!!

this thread is moving too fast too many great works to list all of you lately
matthew, sparth, spooge : thanks a lot for the insight, crits and comments on the mech pic. i'm still not able to paint it right but at least, i can see the flaws. 'see' is a big word though, let's just say it's a bit less blurry.
working with the medium values & halftones was killing my brain. needed some break. _________________ Wet tentacles, horny chixxx & scary designs

Today I saw a bird press its luck by hopping around a cat that lives in my backyard. It came as close as about a foot while the cat just watched.
On another note...
