i like the last one the most, it has nice colors and a good sense of depth. The perspective on the buildings seems slightly off, but its not horrible. oh, and nice clouds.
the others seem a little too flat. i think looking at the choice of colors might help some, particularly with the hightlights and shadows. rather than using lighter and darker shades of the same color, you can try other techniques, like warm and cold colors. some of them also seem a little too fuzzy, like they aren't quite finished.
but these are pretty good, don't take me too negatively. keep it up! |

thanks man, yeh, the last one, perspective looks odd because i used the light direction from the grid for shading rather than the sun, which was about 3cm to the left of it, kicked myself silly when i realised, and i do know where you're coming from on flatness, colour is most definately a problem for me, as is composition, something i'm working on, albeit a lot slower than i want to (fulltime dad so i dont get much study time in), the girlbygrave was pretty quick and unrendered, 4 or 5 hrs, the vamps werent superdetailed either, they are pretty big, 4000px or so, loses a bit of clarity on the sml images i show here, prints look ok, but i know i have a long ass way to go, i should really look at reference more, everything here was straight from the head (apart from the faces of the angels in the top one, commissioned portraits, i cant remember if i used a ref for the sky in the last, im 90% certain i didnt but i did that part of the image 9months before i added the rest, i slightly recall taking a few screengrabs from 'wonderful days' and doing a few studies, may well have been one of those lost studies i blew up and detailed), appreciate any advice i'm given at this stage, and i don't think i'd take anything negatively
