lessee, if I put this in a thread I might just keep it ticking over and not leave it unfinished. Your input is welcome, but it's going pretty much as well I could have expected so far.

inspired by a book, "the chrisalids", john whyndam.

in the early stages of colouring I was using curves and levels adjustment layers and their masks, which isn't something that's happened before for me. By the way.

to be continued

in two minds about how well this suit material is going.. ? maybe less continuous bumpiness and some smoother larger creases and folds..

hey

I must add here I really like this one and it seems you are coming along real fine.
One thing though, I like that red face in that first version better and if you ask me I think it is because that face is darker and gives more room for light to hit on the face. With the under-lit light perhaps you could light under her shin and lower nose region and the low part of the eye-sockets. hmm, maybe sounds confusing. Let me know if I should clarify it.

space-suit, yea looks good to me so far.

thanks matt. often it's hard to see one's own improvement with so many others improving so much faster, it seems (you included).

the first face is better, I couldn't agree more. For me it's the drawing I prefer, the face and shape.

I know what you mean about the underlighting, but I'm going for more of a radiant 'luminescent' thing on her rather than real/naturalistic lighting. But I will definitely tone it down.. you're right, thanks a lot.

My original thoughts were that there was a dull orange light from a fire, and then there's her 'angelic' glowing light.. but it's hard to separate them and I don't feel that it will really benefit anything much.

good criticisms, thank you.

I really like this one. Especially the last colored one is great.
The colors are beautiful by the way,...and its a interesting concept!

You just have to get rid off the few black rough outlines and give some parts a "clear" shape. I wouldn't use too much texture eighter.

I really wonder what she is looking at.....
Keep it up!!!

I really fell flat on my face when it came to adding texture.
I'm sure it should be something that arises naturally from working into a picture and using varied brushed and stuff, but for me..

I'm just not there yet.. I approach it as a 'trick' rather than an inherent part of the artwork.

I reckon when I'm better I'll find it easier, once I'm more economical with the brush.

Thanks allot max.
I know that if I approach the remaining lines and rough areas I won't be able to keep what's good about them, like the girl on the right for instance. And the colours i thought they're maybe too cheesy and unsophisticated, so I'm glad you like them.

thanks peeps : )
