God, there's too much brilliant work in this thread... makes me wish I had time to do more art...

MacJ - brilliant work... makes me long for a story to read just so I can see the illustrations in context

Popeye - I love the surreality of your characters... beautiful

Del3030 - sort of a Yoshitako Amano/Klimt crossover... I like ^^

M.C. Barrett: your costume designs are looking good. When's this comic of yours going to see the light of day? Do you have a deal with a publisher?

Pud'

[Photoshop tip: to achieve a lighting effect similar to the lighting on her snake hair, and the bottom left corner of the picture. Duplicate the layer. Change it's type (Normal, Multiply etc) to Lighten. Apply a zoom radial blur to the duplicate layer. Be sure to locate the centre of the blur as close to the main light source as possible. Voila. Instant shafts of light. Reduce the layer transparency to about 20%, and erase the areas that don't work. Merge with the original layer, and paint over the result. I can hear the purists recoiling with horror, but if you do it right, it can look good.]

del3030, I love the texturing and detail you put into your characters' clothing, reminds me slightly of Gustav Klimt's paintings.

Well, so much great character work here, I'm posting one of mine, it's something a little different (though admittedly I posted it in my a thread of my own, with other stuff). Anyway, great work everyone!

Above are some of my friends.

On a more serious note, I was wondering if anyone out there could help inform me on how to find some work illustrating for children's books. Its something I've always wanted to do, and on many of these forums, it has been suggested that I do so. Can anybody recommend a good agent? Most of the agents I've tried to contact have failed to respond; I suppose you need some kind of industry experience to get affiliated with a representative, but thats always been a perplexing issue. I've also gotten similar results trying to contact publisher's directly. What is step 1? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated,

Josh
