hi. i know that i can never compare to the amazing artists here on the board. but would you mind giving me some critiques on coloring/drawing? here's me latest drawing/coloring. i know that it isn't as impressive as the others. after all...i'm only 17...still learning. so please comment or critique on my drawing. many alohas!

The line work is spot on as far as I can tell. I happen to realy like the coloring other then her skin tone as well.
Take a good look at the palm of your hand and count the colors. For myself I find 7 or 8 different colors I can find. When painting skin keep that in mind. Otherwise skin looks plasticy and unrealistic.

If you post the reference, I think it would be easier to show you what Al Ian is describing. I pretty much agree with his crits. The image isn't bad, but I'm not crazy about the skintones, or the font. No matter how original or cool you think a font is, it almost always reads as just a font. Manipulating test manually would come off much more appealingly, and would be easier to itegrate into the picture. |
