Solarc, you can put back what your wrote, you can always say what you think. People can agree or disagree, that is fine. Dont know if anyone will see it with how fast the thread moves, but for the record

Wassup, I put myself through school doing architectural illustrations. In retrospect, I should have flipped burgers, would have done less damage, but it does help with architectural mattes sometimes.

HPX- I loved that line drawing you did of the girls a few pages back. Totally awesome, I could never do anything like that. Looked on Glen Keanes level.

Thanks styles. If I were to crit that piece I would say that the figure and BG are done with different levels of care and attention, not really detail level. The pine trees are poorly conceived and do not step back in space correctly. Also the shapes on the ground have the same problem. I think this is what solarC was getting at. Not more detail in the BG, but just even the width and spacing of the trunks of those trees would have helped.

If you want water, look to Zorn. The only book I have on him is in Swedish. Does anyone know where I can learn more about him?

Ten, those power lines are another good example of lack of care. The thickness does not decrease as distance increases. That could have helped things out a lot. The tool is just a PS brush, scribbled in about 10 seconds. Shame. I hate leaving easy stuff like that on the table.

More WC. *snuffle*

Spooge and anyone else interested in Zorn> They've got a healthy collection of Zorn paintings over at artrenewal, go and take a look

here's one with lots of water: link (300kb)... That's watercolor on paper, sick stuff. He leaves a lot of the construction in plain sight, so there's no end to what you can steal from it.

And Spooge, nice paintings as usual Smile I never got a chance to comment on the city-piece, but damn that looks fine! I wonder though how you manage to keep track of the perspective lines with so much going on in there? Is there a trick to it or is it just you being ...uh.. awesome?

some creepy dude:

Mon: That's full of squeezy lemon freshness (tm).

I think I'm gonna go back to Photoshop. Me and Painter had a bit of an 'ol barny...

Based on a photo I took on the Orkney Isles:

spooge demon:

I restored the previous crits. I just thought that it would be better to ask permission before openly critisizing a commissioned piece.

What I meant about the composition more precisely was that if there was one it wasn't strong enough for me to really perceive it fully. There was a little bit lighter spot behind the figure and the figure was about in the vanishing point of the treeline, but still I didn't feel that the character would have blended in into the composition. Hope I make any sense? Ofcourse these are extremely subjective things. Just wanted to express my view and hear your opinion. And yes, you are probably right, that emphasizing the feel of space would have been good enough possible solution to the problem I have with the picture.

BTW Love your Water Colors. How long poses do you usually do with the model?

Sorry for lowering the excellent quality of the page. This was just an attempt to catch up some fairytale mood.

Hey everyone, Heres some speed paintings I did in the last couple days.

I wasted way to much time messing around with brushes in this one. Thats why theres nearly no detail and objects are not defined. Anyways I wanted to upload it like it is. SO here.

1 hour.

No ref. Painter 7 and painter 8 . And does anyone know how I can save my custom brushes? I read the whole help file in photoshop and I can't figure it out.

bye

I wonder what heaven looks like; I cant even imagine it because it is beyond my comprehension. No more pain, no more suffering. What a Awesome God I serve. Christ is my savior; he opened the way for me to go to heaven. Christ is the only way to heaven.

1 Hour - speed painting
No reference picture used.

I used painter 8 to create this.

Thanks, enjoy

Thanks for your kindness, don't think those stiff renderings deserve that though.

Mitsui>> You are making huge progress with lighting/value/ect., but please spend some time on working form out, you'll be amazed by the results of your effort.
Mon>> Thanks for sharing that. Scary freaky big hands!
Spooge>> Yes I know what you feel about your early experiences. btw, Xia was right, no matter what you do, EVERYTHING you do will sell! Please don't consider others interests, I think one thing that makes your work stand out is that you never stop experimenting, I have to tell you I love all your paintings in your "bad painting" section, especially.
Pato>> Haha, I hate making masks when using air brush too, the dirtiest work! Great lighting on that king.
Pringle>> Always enjoy how you manage compositions.
Hardcore>> I wish I had your sense of graphic dammit!

I have bad feels about the upcomming film...
