Weekly Drawing - Week 14

Weekly Drawing is an attempt to get a weekly activity on the roll again.

The rules of weekly drawing:

*only traditional pencil allowed
*concepts and speed sketches are allowed
*everyone is allowed to post how many times they want
*Weekly Drawing will only last for a week after which there will be a new topic

I will start a discussion thread over in the digital art discussion too so feel free to give me some pointers about this thread there and also, maybe we can come up with topics in there if you guys have any special ideas.

This weeks topic is - Flying Cars

Ok this weeks topic is Flying Cars and the idea is to come up with an early concept for a flying car. All sorts of crazy concepts will be encouraged.
Heres some inspiration:

http://www.moller.com/news/media/

Heres my quick concepts think I will do some more ones later this week.
Good luck everyone. Smile

Thanks again for the contributions in last weeks Weekly Drawing.
Matthew

hey M.C. Barrett, do you smudge your pencil shading(with your fingers)? if not how do you achieve that smudged/smooth look?

I use a little rolled-paper blending stomp (also called 'stump'). Sometimes I use my finger, but it tends to set the graphite into the paper with skin oils, making it uneraseable (I like to play with tone-to-tone transitions in pencil, this is a good way to do it- by blocking in a form with a smoothly blended area of graphite, and dropping the lighter area out with the eraser)

EDIT: Aww, I was just going to mention blending stumps and tortillions....
You should almost never use your fingers to smudge, it will leave oil that can affect the lifespan of the drawing (and sometimes leaves permanent marks too)

How did you beat me Barrett Crying or Very sad

Oh well, off to Physics now (just on a couple hour break from finishing my lab early) Wink
