I don't get around to posting here too often, but I just have to throw my opinion into the mix. This is fantastic. I cannot stop looking at it... the folds in the sheets, the cool tones on the skin, the highlight on the blade, the hair, the tassles.... its all too much to take in at one time. I can't imagine creating something this exquisite without or with little reference. To add a little more honey to my words, I think you should get the Grand Master Award this year in Expose. Its something I've thought about since last year. I'm a die-hard fan of yours.
I think I'll stop embarassing myself now.

Absolutely goregeous o.o
Great job on *just* dodging the point where it becomes over rendered. The musculature of the girls ribs is just stunning. And the tones. Excellent composition and storytelling _________________

Would I be too far off in saying this is probably one of the best pieces ever posted here? |

Nothing like a bed of fairy cushions..
I'm sorry to come in like this and temporarily stain this jolly spree of awe, but crits before praise you know.
To me the table (mentioned earlier) is looking a little off perspective.. I think this is because the image is pretty much a sideshot, but that ghostly silhouette of the beds cover makes the bed look as if its very broad and this gives me the feeling that it's a little odd perspective-wise. Maybe that's just her other arm reaching up beneath the cover, I have no idea. The other thing is the lighting on the background curtain (which I first thought was a pillar). If the pattern is on it, shouldnt the pattern be more lit in the lit areas of the curtain? (Now it's at it's darkest there.)
Last, a simple question - what is that to the left of the victims head, horns?
Other than that (the stuff I don't get, that is), everything is looking pretty damn awesome. Incredible work, especially on the killing fairys body & the wrinkles in the sheets (great colours in the shadow/light). \o/

Hard to see on my (gamma 2.2?) PC screen at home. Seems to be designed for my gamma 1.0 screen setting on my Linux machine at work. Although it seems a bit too opened up in the shadows at gamma 1. Is that the case? |

Great work Steven, you've really taken to the whole digital painting thing eh? Just a couple quick crits/suggestions on this awesome piece
- A lot of stuff isn't edged right. Like you'll have a soft edge where a light object's edge is in front of a dark background(like the top of the bowl on the table). A lot of it looks a bit soft, which gives it a Photoshop feel. Spooge could explain this way better
-The perspective on the table/bowl seem weird, like the bowl's angled toward us. Might just be me, dunno.
-The murdered faery's head seems like the anatomy isn't as strong as the anatomy of the figures. The head's more cartoony feel contrasts with the realism displayed on the bodies.
Like everyone said, great piece man! _________________ -Anthony

The table seems okay to me. The victim's head gives the impression that the perspective is quite straight on sideways, but if you look at her shoulders, the rear one is higher than the front, following the same vanishing point as the front of the table.
The vertical roll of curtain seems a bit off to me. It is so much brighter on its dark side than the pattern on it that it looks lit by internal scattering, like a translucent toothpaste gel.
I like the way the matte dirt layer seems to interrupt the sheen on the murderer's skin. I think it would have been hard to get that right without layers. |

wasssup, Frost, Jezebel, Sumaleth, Anthony, everybody... thanks! Wow, you guys sure know how to put me in a good mood...
wasssup, I WORSHIP that princess you made in the speedpaint thread!
Crits taken, very helpful. yeah there are some perspective problems still in there, and the Queen does look a little cartoony by comparison.
That round thing in the background on the right, though, isn't a roll of curtain but a pillar made of red frosted glass, covered with gold filigree. It's translucent, that's a caustic highlight not a surface reflection. Hm, I guess it's a bit too dark to see. Maybe my gamma is too high.
The thing on the pillow behind her is a bald head, her new husband the goblin Prince, with his long ears. His hips/thighs visible under the cover in the back. |

Oh, haha.. ok, now I can read it. I guess my confusion mainly grew from assuming she was alone in the bed (not counting the killer), which left her surrounded by unknown shapes. |
