Sorry for spamming, but i think this is necessary to remind some people of what they are doing:
210kb
http://galeon.com/alucarudo/mina1textura.jpg
220kb
http://server4.uploadit.org/files/051203-robo48.jpg
510kb
http://www.angelfire.com/art2/flaptraps/redknightsmall.jpg
540kb
http://user.tninet.se/~ajq251i/wacom/tree_in_mist.jpg
480kb saved as BMP
http://www.perdador.com/greencowgirl1.bmp
These are only the 5 most extreme examples on the last 3 pages (from 5 different people).
3MB download as often for a single page in this thread even with DSL and a download about 80kb needs more than over half a minute.
And i know people which dont have the infrastructure in their city so they have to use a modem or something with only about maybe 10kb download or so .. they would need over 4minutes for one of the last 3 pages!
Please take a look at your image-size - dont save your pictures wrong.
For a good example, spooges very large pictures in size never need over 200kb download.
Well, its only a question if pictures which are higher than 99% of the monitors make sense.
Spooge ones are full of interesting brushwork so i dont mind, but for example the one above used only the standard-impressionists Brush of Painter .. so i dont see a need for such a large picture.
So please, just think about ... _________________ Lars Gtze

I agree Duracel.
But why don't you post links instead of images?
This also hurts the innocent ...

Yeah, you're right, but do links get that much attention?
I think better one single page far too much(for me too, im also innocent in this case), but the next ones in harmony(hope so). _________________ Lars Gtze

@swarm: thanks
@duracel: had the same problem as i'm still on 56k. take a look on opera, you can switch the images off in that browser and load only those you actually want to see. |

When I save, I "save for web" and peg the target file size at 150kb. of course the quality is usually about 20, but whaddya gonna do? Postage stamps suck even worse than jpgg(*&^ing.
Sorry Matthew, i was talking about last Samurai the movie, unibrow being Mr. Cruise. I should let people in when my mind takes a JAG.
retro, yes, worth every penny. And READ it as well as look at it. The oil sketches were from a 3 hour session, first one took about 1.5 hours, second 30 minutes. Probably a less, as I did a lot of little scribbles because the setup was extrememly complex and backlit. Looking at the top one again, it looks a little Schmidly. better watch that. I still have not made friends with oil paint. It does what it wants, not what I want. I have to learn to trick it, or be patient. It like a super responsive sports car with 1000 horsepower. So capable, but you will end up a black spot on a tree unless you know exactly what you are doing. Or so it seems to me at this point. Eventually I hope to be able to fling it around.
Another thing that gets me is the value range is so deep. You can really paint dark and keep clarity. With water based stuff or even digital, it's best to keep things out of the sewer.
this is a mess, and it will never be otherwise. It had promise, but I lost it again. I made a simple 3-d wireframe for the arches, you can see it here and there.

Did you look at the tutorial by Roberto Campus when you did that?
Kinda reminds me of that portrait ...

Just out of curiosity--on the rare occasion that you use 3D, what software do you use? My guess is Max? |

Here is a painting from a model we had the other night. Ron did an awsome demo and taught us some great techniques. I've gone as far as I can on this one. Crits are more than welcome!
Spooge- love your stuff, so much mood! It's what I'm striving for!
Digitaldecoy- I like your use of colors in your last post.
Swarm- Versatile! thats good I really like the style your pushing.
