Taking spooge's advice, I did three new city drawings. The first being refrenced from a photograph. The second, I sort of tried to understand some of the lighting issues with the water and reflections and changed parts the picture. And then lastly i invented a similar city from my imagination, focusing mostly on lighting and big shapes. Franky, the third is embarassing, but I suppose that's what practice is for Smile

A few of us at work drew stuff in Paint today...Just to see...
Here is the one I did, though the jpg version of it got all blurry. bmp.s are way too large so I converted over.

^_^ You guys should give it a try too! It is fun to see what you come up with using limited tools.

Hey Spooge Demon, I'm looking at you!

OK, I've been reading this thread for a month or so now in awe of all of you. I finally gave a go at this "speed painting" thing for the first time tonight in a network Open Canvas session with a friend (a program I'm not familiar with at all, really). I was trying to concentrate mainly on values here...not entirely sure if I succeded or what.

~1 hour, Open Canvas 11b72

The wolf looks more like a collie, but oh well. I used a photoref from a book...I'll scan it in if requested, but I doubt anyone cares much.

Hopefully I'll be able to do this often enough to post occasionally and improve. Smile

Rock on, speedpainters, rock on!

klaskjr, ok, I will.

ms paint is bloatware. Real artists can jiggle with macpaint.

http://goodbrush.com/hirez_pgs/macpaint/macpaint.htm

I think I was 16 or so.

Keating, it looks better than you think. But remember drawing before values. Be very precise about the eyelevel, no matter how loose you get. If you want, forget about color to simplify things.

I could do a tutorial on how not to paint a head.
