I am doing a desktop wallpaper for my little girl. Its her as one of my Al Ian charictors. I am having a terrible time with the lighting on her dress. It looks ok, but I want it to look like satin. I looked at a few refference's and it still looks funky. HELP!!
Aspen Full (as far as I've goten)
Aspen Detail (of just her)
As you can see it dosent look right for a satin finish. HELP! _________________

IMO, the highlights on satin are going to be much 'sharper'
Its what gives it that shimery look. Lots of very defined highlights. I would try making your highlights stronger and make the edges a bit more defined, that should help make it shinier.
Right now it looks more like a polyesther dress IMO
Near the edges of the dress youre going to have either shadow or highlights instead of just a flat color. That will give it a more rounded 3D look. and if the light is directly overhead dont forget shadows under her arms. They will be nice and dark
also the dress and the actual background look almost (maybe even) the exact same pink. You might try a more saturated pink for the background, that should make the dress appear lighter which will bring it forward and grab attention _________________ Hey Man, Nice Shot

Aspen v02
C&C welcome. I am still working on getting the dress to look like satin. The belt and arm cuffs will be white, and possible the coller too, they will match the shoes. _________________

Cute idea and image :) Was an excellent suggestion to change the
Maybe put some sort of ruffle or decorative edging to the bottom of the dress to give it some more character. Maybe a symbol on the dress or background to, something of importance to your daughter (This may or may not work, just a thought.)?
I'd also say to smooth out the side edges of the bottom half of the dress. They appear to rippled.
Cool stuffffff :) |

ooh, i like the black on either side. Love the hair. Strikes me as a nice wallpaper. Neat and interesting, but not too cluttered/confusing.
question: gonna do something with the eyes? _________________ Hey Man, Nice Shot
