For along time I never really fit into any of the little groupie things at school, but since I've come here I found out that there are more like me...
okay 1) Someone likes Alice in Wonderland 2) Someone like H.P.Lovecraft (all my friends never heard of him) 3) Most of the people here are artist 4) someone knows who Dr.Ozone is (my friends think it's a Save the World sloggin) I can go on... Has anyone come across this same feeling of thinking they were an outcast... freak of nature only to find out there's tons of people just like you here? |

It's just the fact that where I live all my friends are so into so different things and have never heard of some of the things I like. I thought maaybe it was because I was not the norm or out of touch with something, but then I come here and there's tons of people who like things I do, and actually know what I'm talking about. I just think it's neat how for so long I'd never met anyone who liked more than afew things I did... I come here and there's tons of people who enjoy many of the things I do. |

The thought that you philosophize synj kind of freaks me out.. I can't imagine you talking serious about anything.
Jabberwocky:
I know very well what you mean-- But its not bad to be different than the ones around you as long as you have enough self confidence to hold your position.
I always tend to like those people most that are different than the rest. Those are most often stong characters, and strong characters always are a big inspiration, because they cut their own way through the jungle.
-*- Oh btw I see this is gonna be a longer post, so you better get something to drink now -*-
Most of the people I call my friends are very stong individuals. They have their view of life and they are not dependant on others to offer it to them. In this I am very proud to have met them, because it gives me a feeling that we are not all swimming with the stream. When you look closer on the things happening you will most probably see that the people that changed something were always those that were different or thought different.
When I talk to someone its pretty easy for me to decide if this person is only an empty shell swimming on the stream of the masses or if its someone that has no fear to turn around and swim against it. I can't tell what exactly it is but somehow, when I meet one of these special people its like you don't have to talk about anything at all without the silience being uncomfortable.
You know that you share something.. even if you have not much else in common.
These people however are few and far between it seems, to be shallow is very popular now. Everything that counts is the shell. Its not who you are, but how it looks like who you are.
-- wow how did i come here? wasn't this about lovecraft --
Oh well, under artists the individualist rate is significantly higher then elsewhere so I think you are in good company here. Weirdo's or not.. I am definitely a weirdo, so welcome to the cokoos club

well first of all.. someone liking the same thing as you does not dismiss you as a freak. it might even diagnose the person who likes what you do as one.
and then again, just cuz nobody likes the same thing doesn't mean you are one, i think.
i like philospyyhiyindg. in the park.

Thanks. It's nice to see someone understands where I'm coming from with this.
Trust me I have some friends that are not the norm... my B/F and i are totally different and with being different we have learned a ton from each other (and got on each others nerves), but if it wasn't for him being the computer geek he is and pushing me to use Adobe I would have probably stuck to pencil and paper. But when it comes to my "friends" they seem to follow me. Not to take off on their own, but yet many tease me for what I choose to do. Oh well going to suck for them when I make something of myself because I know where I'm heading and they are still following my shadow. (hopefully they'll find what they enjoy and aren't afraid to follow it. |

My most outstanding quality is to be as least "normal" as possible. If everyone is dancing the macarena and listning to Ricky Martin you can bet that I will NOT be doing those things. "Pop culture" and doing what everyone else is doing just to stay NORMAL makes me sick. I dont spend a lot of time looking for people who like the same things I do (becasuse they dont exist). I enjoy being a "freak" I'v been one my whole life. I may not have had any friends because I refused to follow the crowd. But I resent those people just as much as they resent me because they are a bunch of weak minded sheep.
You got the football players, the stoners/metalheads, the geeks, the "popular" people that everybody in the whole damn scool loves, the lost causes, and the gansta wannabes. I dont have anything to do with any of them. They are all sick. I consider myself above them all.
But than again. Not fitting in with people at your school and not fitting in and being hated by people at your school are 2 different things. I dont know what your situation is. |

Isn't Ricky Gay?
I love it when the students at school complain about uniforms that might be intoduced... oh wow like they don't wear uniforms (out fits that are the same as everyone else A.K.A. the "in" style) already. |

uniforms are in now? whats the world coming too?
heres my philosophy..
be whatever the hell you want to be and dont be intimidated by anyone. everyone on this planet is just one more thinking organism. they aren't any better than you or anyone else. if they make fun of you, who cares. its just one insignificant person who will have no future role in your life.
dont change your personality to fit into a group. who cares what anyone else thinks, does it really matter in "the big picture" >:P
and well....um...so yea. |
