YES YES YES! This is awesome! I love it as it is, can't really see any needed changes. The lighting on those far trees is just amazing.

I love it, but I've got one question: Why design the branches so awkwardly? Something about the branch design doesnt really sit well with me. But yeah, all around awesome.

i think the branches are supposed to be arms/hands/fingers.
the trees also have eyes if you notice.
i think this is quite an awesome piece... beautifully rendered.

Yes this is beyond incredible. I don't know what you intended the mood to be, but for some reason this reminds me of a Disneyworld ride. The bright lighting and sparseness of the trees kinda takes the creepyness out of the image.

the clocks are fantastic, i like the branch placement, the bark texture confuses me though, not sure why it only goes so far up the tree too in the mid ground, as if they're turning lizardlike, think if the transition was smoother and the texture more defined it would add to it but it's still very very nice man

as I feared, that reworked piece became worse. It looks like the clocks stopped Smile More definied trees and atmosphere distract my attention to clocks Sad

i actually like the color of the clock faces in the original more, they seem to have more of an ominous glow to them. its still an awesome concept either way, and who am i to crit you of all people

I also think that the speedpaint has a lot more energy than the finalized version.

in the reworked picture things look less dynamic and I am somehow missing the glow because in the distance it looks like the clocks would stop there and not emmit light any more.

but nonetheless: I like the concept a lot.

This is awesome Flushy, it's great. I like both, I ca\t say which is better. i DO like the way you've painted the clocks in the speed-painting, but likewise, I like the other clocks in the more finished one.

I can't help but feel that the rendition of the branches looks comparatively crude.

BUt there's no doubt. this is very cool pic.

Hey Capt, have you noticed that we usually post at the same time, very cool. :)
I must say I like the speedy better too as some of the guys above, I hope it is ok if I mention. I think the problem is that you have the clocks in the back center which is too much focus on and they are very clear. You can either blur some of those or blend them down a bit to get that effect you had in the speedy. I thought I could mention this since you wanted tips and such.

see you and keep up the good work. :)

sweet work. what's with the bark texture? i think if you spent a while on the texture, making it more natural looking, the image would work a lot better.

also... everything in the picture is repeated. i feel like there should be something individual in the illustration, like a robed, standing figure, or a bird flying through the wood. otherwise it kind of just looks like a background without a subject.

starglider: Very Happy

The reason why this piece rocks like something that rocks really hard is simply your AMAZING lighting ... damn, you know how to set up the right mood. Plz do not stop to keep it up. Kthnxbye.

I also think the clocks had much more vibrancy in the first picture. They look sort of blah in the finished piece. Still very very cool.

you're actually sleeping with light itself now, aren't you? A promiscuous affair with the visual concept of atmoshpere? A tempetuous romantic relationship with color and tone? It's got to be something.

I remember back in Sijun golden era when you were sort of 'starting out'. What you are now...I can't even recognize it, you've just become....*sniff* well it brings a tear to my eye.

Amazing atmpshere in the piece, the clocks have amazing personality, the orange and blue are an abosulte complimentary delight. It's also good to see what you reworked from the speed painting. The addition of eyes to the trees could have gone horribly wrong but it was handled with a lot of class. I hope I have the privelege of working with you some day.

Wow Thank you all for the great replies!

I dunno if its good or bad that most people like the sketch more, I don't wanna end up doing just sketchy stuff, some day I hope I'll paint something that looks finished but not dead haha!

Tinusch:thanx dewd! glad u like it!

Cicinimo: oh well guess u know now cause Chthonic Divinity told ya, but thanx for the compliments!

Chthonic Divinity: thanx for clearing that, and cheers for the

complimentIliya Zilberter: great! basically what I wanted to hear, I love the humoristic horror that stuff has, movies rides and more, its like its charmingly scary and you just laugh at it instead of being too afraid of it, I love that kind of stuff!

spyroteknik: I will make sure I'll fix that bark texture, good point! I'm a bit lazy hehe thanx!

Tomasis: yes I thought about your comment in the speed thread all the time, it was like a voice in my head frightening me hehe, I'll try to wind up the clocks again Cool

Matt Ryan: doh! everyone likes the sketch more, the thing is I know it's really really easy to make stuff look good with that transition between orange and blue, so I tried to get rid of most of that Crying or Very sad thanx for the crit!

Simoom: here anyone can crit anyone, I appreshiate them if they're good so dont be shy Smile actually I think ure right, Ill try to fix it

Rubber Duck: DOH! you too!!?? aw come on is this some kinda joke? Very Happy
hmm do you mean that they glow too much in the distance? I wish I did but I fear I dont understand what you just wrote, I'll figure it out hehe (my inglish issint purfekt)Capt. Fred: thanx, hmm

Capt. Fred: yup crude they are, cause of my lazyness, its like I know theyre not nice but I just dont fix it, but Im glad u like the other parts! I'll try to clean the branches up a little!

see: Of course youre in position to crit! I post here hoping to get some help not only compliments Smile and if I dont like em I still cant find your home cause this is just the internet Wink

fransua: merci beaucoup!

Matthew: haha yeah I'm monitoring your every move and do what you do! stop picking your nose YUCK! Wink

Hmm, I totally know what you mean, I think Ill be adding some speed blur or something here and there, and maybe makes the clocks glow like in sketch 1, but I kinda like that the eye catches the clocks in the BG aswell cause it makes the eye slip down nicelly, I think!

starglider2: OH!! so that's how it's supposed to be!!, it's all clear to me now dunno what I was thinking with all those colors and textures and perspective and cylinders and glow!

Ken, hmm are you starglider who made the repaint or another starglider? me confused! I promise to finish the bark texture, but I dunno what would happen if I put birds and stuff here and there, I'll experiment with it a bit, got some images in my head now, thanx Smile

[999]Fluffy: haha first words sounded like u were gonna give me some hard crits!! but it was all just goood compliments! sorry for your name change there, but I tried to be funny heh Embarassed

fukifino: OK OK I'll fix the freakin clocks! Wink cheers man!

Isric: Doh! pleeease dont tell my wife! oh wait dont have a wife, I can sleep around as much as I want! WOHOO!

I love what ure writing, and I'm glad that you think I've learned stuff since then hehe, basically everything I've learned is from this forum!

great to hear I didn't screw up with the eyes of the trees, I put them there and thought to myself, ^the dudes at sijun's gonna crit those"

thanx for the kind words! cheers back at you!
