I'm looking for advice and information about galleries on the East Coast, USA that display digital work. Are there any???
I've never had a releationship with a gallery but I'm giving it some consideration now for some large, one of a kind digital pieces. But I know nothing about it.... any advice or directions to look in would be a great help at this point. _________________ HonePie.com

I dunno much bout the US but Here in my country its a sad scene.
I make big prints on canvas of my digital work......And I visited a lot of Galleries...to sell my work..... But I guess Digital seems to be a very dirty word. The'd even sell a childish doodle on torn paper if its done by an aging 50 something retard.. ..but Wont even look at my work before saying no....they're not interested.
When will people get out of the cocoons???
Trying very hard here to break the mould.... Les see if I seceed. All the best tu ya. _________________ :: Only Dead Fish follow the Stream ! |

As a print medium, digital probably works better for gallery owners, but I'm wondering about one-of-a-kind digital work.... i.e. pieces that are mixed with other media so that they truly become an individual piece. Has anyone had experience with that type of work and galleries? _________________ HonePie.com

Hey Phil,
I had an exhibition at ECHO (www.echogallery.org) last year and they exhibit both digital and traditional works from artists around the world.
If the work your considering showing is fantasy/sci-fi, or adult in nature, you might want to give them a shot. I'm good friends with the owner of the gallery, so I could put in a good word for you if you're interested.
Drop me a line if you want some more info.

PS. They're located in Chicago, if that makes any difference. _________________ l i q u i d w e r x |

That URL seems to be dead... There is an echogallery.com, but it seems to be for African art...
At ant rate, the type work I'm looking to display is my photo manip/digital paint work ( here ) which is not SF or adult oriented.
How did your show there go? Did you sell work? [/url] _________________ HonePie.com

Hmmm... URL's working fine on my side... Try it again bud.
And no, I didn't sell one lousy piece. Of course, my stuff was on the higher side of the price range because of the print type (UV, archival) and the hand-made custom frames. Not to mention how much shipping five 16x20 metal framed prints across the country cost me. Since my costs were really high, the price of my prints were high at the gallery. I heard that particular show was really low on sales across the board though. I think only 1 or 2 guys sold some lower priced photography and print stuff...
They've had some huge blow out shows at ECHO though... Folks like Olivia and such have exhibited there with some hefty original and print sales. You gotta remember though, I was even less known then (November 2002) than I am now and a recognizable name is important to a lot of collectors...
Go see if that URL's working for ya now...

You might want to contact Jason Felix about this. He's had his works displayed in Japan. (I think they displayed with monitors, not sure though.) http://www.jasonfelix.com |
