that's a pic I did for somebody who asked me to do it.
Many ppl said that it's a strange pic... well as you can see these are huge trees with little houses in it.. it was ment to look like that, so please don't wonder
my question is now what do you think is it possble to color it, if yes how, I never colored "landscapes" and I have no idea how to do that...
and as you can see the ground is missing (and many other details, too).. I tried to draw some plants and trunks and little animals on it, but it look really too strange cause they had to be tiny cause the trees are SO big...
Any idea? critique/comments?
Thanks! |

No one replied to this one so I might help you out a little bit. Yah it looks like the little ewok settlement in the trees btw :p
For coloring Dhabih has a good way of laying everything out and getting ready to color so you might want to check it out... and it is possible to color anything u do... even from the most messiest sketches... actually for me the messier the better (sometimes heh).
An easy way out of the dillema of the animals and plants on the ground is to fade the trees into a mist that could be laid on thick on the ground... it could be day or night for it. But it is an easy way out.
Usually from that high up anyways animals look like specs so you might want to just concentrate on shrubs and bushes/greenery around the floor and close to the trees, maybe add some vines. Also the background behind the trees maybe could have more concentration of trees in it because it seems really sparse and not really much difference from all of them... maybe have a few small ones or ones that got smacked over on the side/died/etc... give it some randomness and don't be afraid to go a little crazy with things, but not too crazy.
I don't know really what much else to say except good luck and if you need any more help (coloring or whatever) I can send some tutorials over your way (I have tons).
Goodluck! _________________ Meep meep |

So you're going to redraw it? Then either lower the horizon or find a way to draw foreshortened trees.
To make it more interesting I'd try to come up with an idea for the area of interest.
Right now all parts of the image seem equally important to me. _________________ http://www.conceptworld.org |

its very clean, 1 suggestion bro, add some ppl in there, think wild, some of them wild tree-houses futuristic looking but with that "back in time" theme, add some pplz in there mby doin wild stuff. The current look of the pic has a "background" feel to it is what I'm tryin to say, now work on a foreground, its juss my oppinion though. I like da clean look so far, and yeah like da last dude said, make da trees diff shapes, they rlly similar to each other in terms of branch placement. |

i vote for some spirally staircase-walkways around the trees too... or if not, perhaps just landings... so you could get from one path to the othe without going THOUGH someone's livingroom.
good sketch, btw _________________ Ylla's Art Gallery

^Good suggestions from everyone, I would definitely suggest changing the perspective so you're looking downward. I think a nighttime motif would would perfectly here, with some warm orangey glow coming from each window. That's just my opinion though. |

Hi
and first of all thank you all for all the suggestions it was very kind of you to help me.
Indeed that pic looks more like a background but it was ment to look a bit like that.. but perhaps it's too much "background" so that it's boring....
I didn't really think of the perspective when I did the picture, I just started drawing.. I see that was a mistake, (it's a very old picture, too... I just started lately to draw again after 1 or 2 years and then I thought of improving the old sketches so that's why I posted them here)

You are absolutely right , I was aware of that probleme and had some ideas like that (cause I thinks I've seen something like that in an online role playing game and I thought of the trees in Galadriel's home in the LOTR Movie) but they remained just ideas.. I'm going to work again on this pic soon I hope
