I just got the Wacom Intuos2, it comes bundled with Photoshop Elements, Comic Studio, and Painter Classic. I installed and tried the last two, didn't try Elements yet since I have PS already, and in the "manual" it looks like a crappy birthday-card desinger or something...
1. Painter Classic - what's the difference to Painter 8? And if I find I want Painter 8, how do I buy it? I see on Corel's site only a page for US and Canada, and for all of Asia (I'm in Malaysia) only a page for Japan, not even in english? Also, Corel has a page where you can find resellers - of course no one in Malaysia. I've done searches also but no useful info.
2. Comic Studio - wtf? No Help, no Manual... I tried saving a test drawing as a jpeg and it came out blank in PS. Which is a pity since I really like the way it works with the Wacom. Does anyone have a link to a tut or something, I just have very little time right now for trial and error type messing about...
3. Photoshop Elements - is it worth the effort to install if I have PS 5? Or should I just go ahead and order PS7?
Thanks. |

hey congrats that you got wacom intuos2, the excellent tool..
dont care about those junk apps which come with wacom intuos2.. PS Elements is very limited still.. it is better to use PS 5 still but if you order PS7 and Painter 8 then you have ultimate apps for working with intuos2
you can allways send a e-mail to corel to request resellers in Asia, Malaysia.. why not order that from USA? if it is possible.
good luck _________________ out |

Hey Steven,
First of all, what are you doing in Malaysia?...Did you get the Platinum Intuos2?.....Haven't used the bundled softwares. I stay clear of them as they are not what I want to use.
As for Painter 8, which I've bought - they've modified their UI..it looks more like Photoshop's.
Try www.cdw.com that's who I use to buy hardware/software. The good thing is they're punctual.

Thanks for the link.
I live here now, been here a year. Most excellent.
I didn't order the tablet myself, my company did, what's the platinum version? It just says "Deep Purple" on the box, which is what it is. |

Platinum edition is just the color. Marketing trick.
If you already have PS7, I don't see why you would need PSE. Painter Classic is like a very simple and primitive version of Painter. Definitely get Painter 8--you won't regret it. Its UI is much like PS now, but the brush engine is light years ahead of PS. I'll give you all my cool tips & tricks & custom brushes when you get it. |

Thanks!
Can't say when though, since it's not up to me, have to talk to some people about it... I hope soon. I've heard a lot about Painter, and Classic is already quite cool...
I don't have PS 7, not yet. So I guess meanwhile I'll just try out Elements. |

Steven,
You can give Game Brains a try. Last I heard they got some sort of resellership when they bought their wacoms in "bulk" a few months back.
Can try email them at : [email protected]
Cheers,
