I just wanted to make a flyer for a rave/house party, so I came up with bunch of random info to put on it. Please tell me what you think.

ppl,I fail to understand u, I said I made up the info, the post is about the image isn't it.
..Besides, what is wrong with "ALL AGES TO ENTER // 21 TO DRINK" yes in america you need to be 21 yo to consume and buy alcohol, I didn't think it would raise so many emotions... Shocked

Don't worry, no one's arguing about your piece, it just sparked a conversation. The flyer is pretty good, very clean and simple, but the text could use a little work. Emphasize the most important info, or do something to mix it up, because it all runs together right now. An important thing to remember with these flyers is that your goal is to catch the eye and make your information jump out.

I see what you mean, I thought about it too, but in the end decided to sacrifice 'informativity' for the aesthetic appeal.. I'll def keep that in mind if I do another one .. Idea

I don't really like it... I think it's the style and colours. But that's just me.

Well, I'm gonna have a good go at it:

I think its the lack of contrast... but nothing 'pops' out of the page and grabs my attention. The chairs and tv doesn't really fit imo, I think its all just a little too sedate. The use of space and composition is ok, but seems a little bit undecisive and the relationship between the picture and the text placement isn't completely appealing. You do have colour harmony (nice pallete) but the composition doesn't have much rhythmm. It's hard to explain, but there doesn't appear to be a system or a feeling that all the shapes relate. It's close, but its missing something (sorry, I'm being vague).

If I could have a guess at why its a bit unbalanced I'd have to say that its the way some of the shapes and angles seem a bit unrelated and lead the eye off the page and in strange directions. An example would be the way the diagonal line cuts cleanly through the sub-heading "Free Oxigen Bar". I find it destracting because it grabs too much attention away from the main heading up the top. Diagonal lines represent a 'dynamic' and have quite a lot of visual power and I think that in this case the placement is misdirected.

Otherwise I love the clean treatment, I guess its nice to see something that isn't too overcrowded for once... you should try and keep that quality if you decide to make any changes. I tried hard to explain what I was thinking, so I Hope that helps.

Ian, Thanks for a comprehensive and constructive criticizm, now that I look at it, all you said makes sense. You see, I'm not really much of a graphic designer, I just decided to give it a shot. I used the name of Tokyo club "Liquid Room" and I desperately wanted to make... well a liquid room, but I also wanted to keep clean edges and angles, so I distorted it perspective in such a way, I guess this is where the unrelated shapes and angles come from, and I do see how they confuse the eye. should have given it more thought..

I am not going to make changes to this one, but I'm gonna make more and see what comes out, I'll post as soon as i'm done..

again, thanks a lot for C&C!
